This was the contract extension I was playing around with on Tyreek.

6 Year / 115,650,000.

You can pretty much ignore those 5th & 6th Year Cap Hits.     With only 7 Mil in Guarantees left,  we can easily extend/set free at that point.

I don't think paying 18.5 Mil at the max,  for Tyreek in his prime in bad at all.

This is the Cap Savings for the next 2 years with this;

2021 Savings: $3,200,500
2022 Savings: $4,185,000

Extended Contract

2027

We only have 4 players,   not on Rookie Contracts,  past 2022.   So pushing some of these start player salaries into 2022&2023 is possible.    Just need to keep drafting well,  and not using all the picks for trade ups.   Veach was impressive to me, this past year,   not getting too aggressive.

If that works  .. be my guest

I'm not sure if this fits in the cap, but this is my thought:

Cut/Trade

Mitchell Schwartz - I love the man but his back scares me right now. Do I feel more comfortable extending him or Fisher?

Matt Moore - We have Henne for another year.

Damien Williams - 29 year old RB away from football for a year. His cap hit is just too high.

Bryan Witzmann - Yep.

Alex Okafor - Cap casualty.

Restructure

Chris Jones - I believe we can get a good chunk of change here. I think it happens for real too since we'd save 13+mil.

Anthony Hitchens - He's gotten better and it's not like quality MLB are easy to find. His biggest issue is that we overpaid.

Extend

Tyrann Mathieu - Easy decision.

Eric Fisher - Save a little cap now while having the position set for an extra couple years.

Tyreek Hill - Easy decision.

RFA Tag

Byron Pringle, 2nd round comp - I wanted to do original round, but he was undrafted so unsure how that'd work.

Charvarius Ward, 2nd round comp - I debated 1st round, but cap space is slim.

FA retention

Anthony Sherman - Cheap for a quality vet

Stefen Wisniewski - Cheap veteran depth/starter competition

Daniel Kilgore - Cheaper than Reiter, especially 2 vs 6 years

Tanoh Kpassagnon - Decent starter/depth at a good price

Eric Fisher is done being anything other than mediocre. This is when smart teams see the writing on the wall trade him and move on. He's got a year left on his deal maybe we can swing him for a Watkins replacement or just get some draft capital out of a trash team looking to build from the inside out.

The key being eventually replace. We do not need a day 1 starter at OT. If we do not re-sign Reiter or Kilgore, or sign the equivalent as FA, we will need an immediate starter at C.

This raises a question I asked earlier, how are we treating the following injured players--Schwartz, Rankin, Thornhill, Osemele, Charlton? Three of those guys are OL. Are the full strength when camp opens?

I think we need to focus on the cuts/extensions/restructures,  before we focus on pending free agents.     I mean with the current cap space,   we can only keep 1 RFA without going over the cap.

Cuts

Mitchell Schwartz -    2 Votes for Yes,   2 Vote for No.       King/KCG(yes),     MeJayhawk/(No)     -  Saves $6,255,000    (I'm good with trading also, but not cutting)
Damien Williams -  2 Votes for Yes,  1 for No.       Me/King(yes),   KCG(No)                      - Saves $2,250,000
Matt Moore -  2 Votes for Yes,  1 for No.        Me/King(yes),   KCG(No?)                           - Saves $1,080,000
Bryan Witzmann -  2 Votes for Yes,  0 for No.     Me/King(yes)                                          - Saves $990,000

These moves would put us around $13.5 Mil,  Plenty for ERFA/RFA and a some UFA resignings.

Cutting Okafor -    I was just doing this to keep it somewhat realistic,  as he has a built in voided year IRL.         He's not under contract for $2,000,000.  He will cost us that,  but it's from the voided contract portion.

Extensions/Restructures.  We get 3.         I see these options.

Extending Hill-   2 Votes for Yes,   0 No.      King/Me(yes)
Extending Mathieu -  Votes for Yes,   0 No.      King/Me(yes)

I think the last one is more up for debate.

*Extending Fisher-    I wouldn't extend him any longer than 2 years.

*Restructure Jones -    This one is tricky.  in TTMD mainly,   His guarantees come from a Roster Bonus.   TTMD really only gives the option to convert Base Salaries into future Guarantees.    Since his base is basically vet min.    In TTMD  there's nothing to convert to future years and would actually cost us money.  (I agree this is probably going to happen IRL,   I'll throw this into the improvement section for next year).

*Restructure/Extend  Hitchens:     It's hard to restructure a 2 year deal without it making the 2nd year   awful from a team perspective.   I think Extending him 1 Year would be the better option, if we go this route.

I suggested to extend Fisher, Mathieu and Hitchens ... if you want to do Hill - fine with that as well.

As for Schwartz: I don't see anyone taking on an expensive 32 y/o guard coming from an obviously severe back injury.

Do the tally with those extensions and then we see where we are in terms of cap.

Trading both Fisher and Schwartz forces our first pick, but I am good with that. Agree to a two max extension. Ok with extending Hitchens.

It's a shame to see players like Damien Williams and Dan Sorensen go, but the money doesn't work to keep them.

Okafor is cheap for a DE, but Danna gives us a ton of flexibility.

2021 Savings: $2,250,000
2022 Savings: $2,250,000

Yeah.  I don't think a Jones Restructure, will work in TTMD,       I'm not able to convert his 20 Mil Roster Bonus into future years.       I'm only able to adjust his 2021 Base Salary into future years.    Since it's 1 Mil Base,  not really much to work with.
