At the time a lot of teams around the league wondered how the Chiefs pulled the deal off, because several other teams were interested in Mahomes. The answer is that the KC front office set the deal up in the week prior to the draft, so one call and it was done. The article notes that the Bills did well with the three picks they received--Tre'Davious White, Tremaine Edmunds and Dion Dawkins. Due to a2019 injury, all three have started more games than Mahomes.
