Texans interviewed backup QB McCown for HC Position

Not to dive too deep into this but, as someone who’s the grandson of pastor and grew up in the church, there’s no way you’re going to have a successful team in any sport by just having “culture fits” for your team. It’s impossible and honestly a stupid way to run a franchise.

Sounds like that’s what Cal & Easterby have done/are doing which explains so much why the franchise is in turmoil right now. It’d really be bad if that “culture fit” leads them to prematurely hire McCown as the head coach.

I understand why Watson wants to leave the Texans, that organization has no idea what they are doing.

But - is this narrative really true? Does he want to leave? For all intents and purposes, we've not really heard from him. There's speculations on what he's actually said on the subject, but there's nothing even remotely resembling what he wants.

"Culture" is just another word for "ego" (in this case, Caserio's ego) and "culture guys" is just a fancy way of saying "yes men".  It's the corporate America mindset.

I don't know if it's Caserio's ego - this goes back at least 18 months, back when Easterby first joined and then tried to tamper with Caserio after firing Gaine. It's Easterby's ego if anything.

All things considered, Caserio might be the only hope in the room - a football guy looking for football guys.

Rest of this is spot on.

I actually meant to say Easterby, not Caserio.  :$

Its much worse than just the football side.

The Texans have danced between mediocre and bad for their entire existence but they are a top 8 moneymaking franchise.

They have a PR guy who is an absolute wizard.

  • They are all over places like HEB.
  • They have the Battle Red stuff to get fans revved.
  • The gameday experience is top notch all around.
  • They have their own radio station which does  pretty good job of tight-roping objectivity and homerism
    • OK, maybe not when the play by play guy is on.
  • They even have Toro's math drills to get kids thinking Texans while they dig into schoolwork.

That wizard is leaving because he lost a power struggle with ...  ________________
