I'd prefer to stick to the current 30% rule, that's what the NFL uses.

TCMD uses 30 pct on cap charge.  In real life, it is for base salary. Correct?

I was thinking about 3 or 4 extensions limit.

One extension allows 50 percent jump from year 1 to year 2.

  • Traded player excluded. Why trade him away if you are able to do the same way?
  • Signing Bonus and first year base salary must be at least equal to final base salary (GTD if we are able to track it well) of old contract. That is only way to make Mike feel good about player's welfare.  Maybe 10 pct more?

Two or Three extensions stay with 30 pct rule all the way.

Also need to keep in mind that not every extension is going to provide you cap relief.

If a contract has a signing bonus attached to it, that money can't be prorated a second time.  You'll save the most cap if the current contract doesn't have any guaranteed money tied to it, be it Signing bonus or Base guarantees.

If there is no gtd money left, they can cut him loose.

Signing bonus of old contract is already paid so it will carry over to new contract.  That's it.

Non GTD and new GTD conversions come in the same way, in term of player's income.

If you're wanting to retain the player then cutting him loose doesn't make sense to me.

I get that the signing bonus has been paid already.  It however, has to stay on the books.  Correct it carries over to new contract, it just can't be prorated again.  If the current SB for 2023 is 5 million then it's 5 million for 2023 in the new contract.

Cut him loose or extend his contract.  That is a choice.

Maybe futures years can have some variations in number of restructures that changes how many FA slots a team has for the first few rounds.

I think the process needs to be revamped as these current rules are mostly from 2016/ 2018....and contracts have evolved a good eal since then.

Restructures should be like 5-6, maybe more.....BUT the cost of using more than a certain number would place a restriction on how many UFA bidding slots a team could then use in the first few rounds of UFA budding.

the Restructure Allotment needs to be a % of what a team could Restructure based on their current contracts....not some amount based on their available cap space.

Is there a location that list this restructure value you are talking about?

Also, like the idea of it costing bid slots.

Ok...I was hoping there was a listing but this works.

On a different note, really hate that this mock has gotten off to the start it has with all the issues.  Will get it right next year.  Nothing really seemed to work out this year.

Been getting my *** kicked from the start.
