I prefer Fields but most of the mocks have him top4 and QB2

I'm not sure how anybody could watch Fields play against Clemson and say 'yep give me the kid from BYU #4 overall'

If evaluating QBs is all about ceilings and projections than that was a helluva projection game.

The Rams can trade him. But I don't think that dude is right. If Watson somehow becomes a possibility, the Rams will make an effort to get something done. Otherwise, I fully expect Goff to be the starter.

Do you think a team would trade anything for him, or is this a Brock Osweiler situation?

I’ve had a second go at this after a bit of a rethink

1. Cowboys franchise Dak Prescott again

2. Lions trade Stafford to the Colts for 21 overall and a 2021 second rounder that becomes a first if the Colts make the playoffs

3. Texans play hardball and refuse to trade Watson. Eventually a truce is agreed and he reports to camp.

4. Dalton and Winston re-sign with Dallas/NO respectively on cheap deals. Dalton will backup Prescott. Winston is given the chance to compete with Hill for the starting job.

5. Cam Newton reunited with Rivera and Hurney in Washington on a cheap deal. He will battle Smith and Heinecke to get the start.

6. Jacoby Brissett goes back to NE and is promised the chance to compete to start.

7. Broncos sign Mitchell Trubisky to a high end backup QB contract (2 years, $9m AAV). Drew Lock will enter the season as starter but on a very short leash.

8. Bengals sign Tyrod Taylor to hold the fort if Burrow isn’t ready week one.

9. Lions sign FitzMagic to pair with a rookie.

10. Jaguars take Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick.

11. Jets take Justin Fields with the second overall pick.

12. Lions trade up with Atlanta to acquire the fourth overall pick and select Zach Wilson. FitzMagic starts about 3 games before Wilson is inserted into the lineup.

13. Panthers select Trey Lance with the 8th overall pick.

14. Patriots select Mac Jones with the 15th overall pick.

15. Jets trade Sam Darnold to the 49ers for a 2020 second round pick and a 2021 conditional 3rd that becomes a second if he plays the majority of snaps and the Niners make the playoffs. San Fran has an open competition between Darnold and Jimmy G. Garoppolo wins and enters the season as starter but on a very short leash.

16. Bears select Kyle Trask in the second round but enter the season with Nick Foles as their starter.

The same way the Chiefs said “Yep, give me the raw kid out of Texas Tech” over Watson when he took down powerhouse Alabama.

If Fields should go top 5 because of the Clemson game then what about Ian Book in his first Clemson game?

  • Is Book a top 25 pick now? 😄

Do we ignore how mediocre Fields was vs Alabama?

Trey Sermon had 254 yards from scrimmage in that Fields showcase game.

  • Is he a 1st round pick now?

Playing with what looked like broken ribs vs. the best team in the country? He performed fine. His game vs. Clemson was more impressive. But if in a worst case scenario, he can play mistake free football and still be relatively accurate (lots of drops by Ohio State), then I think a team will be ok.

Interesting how everyone just sort of assumes that the Patriots will roll into 2021 with another mediocrity at QB when they've got the 4th most cap space in the league and Belichick is about to turn 69.

I just assume y'all are going to draft Mac Jones or something like that.

I wouldn't bet against Belichick mortgaging a lot of future draft capital to acquire a QB by trade. I don't think he wants to spend his last few years in the league banging his head against a wall, looking for the next 20-year starter to pass off to the next guy.
