Now that Pettine is gone, who should be the new DC?

We’ve got as many options as we have threads on the subject so who knows.

I wonder if Jeremy Pruitt heads to the NFL esp if he lands a show-cause after UT. He’s a better DC than HC and helped put together some tremendous defenses while at Bama. Would love to see some of that aggressiveness on D.

Jeremy Pruitt is headed to the NFL as a defensive assistant with the New York Giants

It could be anyone and I hope it’s someone I haven’t heard of because that means LaFleur has his guy in mind. I hope Coach Gray and Coach Smith are part of the answer but if a new guy is brought in, they usually recruit their own personnel.

Looking at some options here

Brendan Daly  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Daly_(American_football)   KC DL coach.  Was with NE from 2014 through 2018

Karl Dunbar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Dunbar      DL coach with PIT.   worked under Saban at Alabama 2016 and 2017

Dave Merritt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Merritt  Current DB coach with KC.  was with NYG during the 2007 and 2011 Super Bowls

Kacy Rodgers  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kacy_Rodgers     Current DL coach with TB.  Has some experience with Bill Parcells

I looked into a few options earlier and was looking at some teams with appealing styles of defense and some of the position coaches.

Someone new who wants to be a head coach.

If it’s some failed former head coach I’m right back to leaving.

Right now there are 11 former NFL head coaches serving as coordinators on several teams.  Look at what Todd Bowles is doing in Tampa.

And what are the other 10 doing?

I can list four former head coaches who got fired as coordinator/consultant DCs this year alone.  Schwartz, Capers, Pettine, Nolan.
