Chandler Jones has played in a 3-4 OLB setting most of his career, which I am sure there were splashes of him being a 4-3 DE at times. Mario Addison and Obada both have played in a 4-3 DE setting can either one of those 2 go to a stand up position?

Not to mention AZ is on the hot seat in a sense with Kliff needing to have a winning season  going in to year 3 and the inability of developing a winning season by their GM Keim in the last 5 years they have to win this year. Is a 2nd and Mario Addison really going to help solve their issues in which they could win now to save their jobs or retain Jones. I just dont see how this can be done it seems like media fodder and bills fans wishful thinking to get this idea going. I wouldnt be mad at this move at all I just dont see them settling for a 2nd rd pick, I dont see Jones settling for a 3 year deal with an average of 15 mil when he wants one last big pay day. JJ signed a 2 year 28 mil deal (20 guaranteed) and jones has done more then what watt has done in the last 5 years to only get 1 mil more per year doesnt seem likely. Does beane really put another high draft pick on the line for 3 years straight at the DE position? Another high end picking going to a high salary cap with one less player that can off set the books.

Again I am all for it if it can be done but I need to know more logistics in how this can actually be realistic in which the bills arent in cap hell and the cardinals are good with anything less than a 2nd rd pick and a 34 year old pass rusher.

I know these wont likely happen but if it were up to you to give up a 1st and extend the player, who would you want Chandler Jones or Xavien Howard as both have publicly requested a trade?

Chandler Jones for me.

It would be more possible to be able to land him then Howard as it is within the division and those moves arent as common as a nfc to afc move. The only other issue I would be concerned about is that Howard is seeking a new deal is howard going to want more then tre, and is tre going to be upset if howard makes more then him. While Jones would bolster the bills pass rush for 2021 the other young guys are the long term solution. While the bills have no long term solution for CB outside of Tre and Howard would be an immediate upgrade this year. Would be certainly an interesting move by beane while it is unlikely, either one would make this team better and a reason to think they have a shot at beating out KC.

I think both trades are unlikely. McDermott and Beane seem keen on sticking to the plan of letting their guys develop and grow.

+1 here.. Although with Epenesa, Boogie and Rousseau rostered I dont think it'll happen.

We cant afford Xavien Howard but if we had him, we'd probably have the GOAT secondary of all time with Tre, Poyer and Hyde

Yea while I agree on them developing and growing however we are in a period of win now mode. With guys like Knox who hasnt really shown he is capable of taking his game to the next level, and Levi Wallace while solid at #2 hasnt really taken that step to get to the next level as a CB threat I think both of those positions are in need of some assistance that can be upgraded. I am good with the pass rush and I actually wish they went the 1 tech dt route and gave star some competition as Harrison Phillips was a let down last year when he had his shot. With star being a potential cut candidate next offseason they really do not have a long term answer outside of this year and really none of them are the type of players that can get the bills over the top to edge out KC when it comes time to play key games. To me outside of RB I think these are going to be the 3  biggest weaknesses for us this year.

I am out on Chandler Jones. People are sleeping on the D line. They were 2nd in the league last season in QB pressures in 2.5 seconds or less. The reason why we didn't make as many splash plays and hit the QB more was because of our LB and slot CB play and the overall defensive philosophy. This defense is designed to invite short passes and keep everything in front of them. This severely limits the amount of time the D line has to get to the QB. I am happy with our defensive line as is and don't want to give up premium picks for an aging pass rusher who doesn't fit our scheme very well and looked to be declining last season.

I agree in some what you are saying, the issue we had  last year was we were using our slot corner, safety or LB rushing the qb quite a bit. Which racks up a ton of pressures but way to late to get to the qb. We blitzed 60% of the time against Indy in the playoffs and not once did Rivers get sacked. He is literally a statue and they couldnt get it done. Which by having your slot corner, safety, or LB rush with them leaving the slot receiver, TE, or RB open to field the quick passes so it works kind of hand in hand. Have we had real pass rushers who can get to the qb without the extra man or try to make up for the weak 1T DT play we could have shut down those shorter passes better. Having star back can eat up the space and allow the edge rushers or Ed get in their sooner as they wont be double teamed as much will help out. Hiopefully one of the young guns across from Hughes can be the impact we have been seeking for the last few years.

We did have games where we didn't put a ton of pressure on the QB and I am not saying that we don't need to improve, but is bringing in an expensive aging pass rusher that would likely require premium picks going to be the answer and put us over the hump? I am not saying that you're saying that, but just more of a general question.

The biggest problem with this defense is tackling. There aren't many sure tacklers. Linebackers should typically be the best tacklers on a defense, but both Edmonds and Milano were poor tacklers last year. Most of our defensive line doesn't tackle well and the secondary isn't great either outside of Poyer I believe.

No I dont think Jones would be a must get, ideally I would like to see what we have with the young guys. We already have 2 aging guys in Hughes and Addison. Maybe if Addison was the guy we can package then I would consider it but I dont know if Jones would get us to where we want to be. If we were to spend the money and the picks then I would say go after Howard and have him pair up next to Tre. Hes going to be seeking likely more money then what Jones would get but at the end of the day I could see him putting the team over the top. Just dont know if Tre would be cool with it and his injury history is a concern. I am still all for going after Ertz as it may not be a huge splash but it can certainly help the offense out. Beane is going to do something with that money so I am curious as to what position he is looking to upgrade.

After seeing Rodgers interview yesterday he mentioned being a part of the recruiting process and inputting his opinion. He then went on to say he felt that Kumerow was a guy who he connected with as he was the 2nd best wr in camp last offseason. With the depth that we have he is likely not going to make the team. Wonder if Beane is looking to move him to GB and what would he get in return for him?

I could see a late round pick for next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if that trade goes down near the end of camp though just incase we suffer injuries or something.

Joe B wrote yesterday that he believes Kumerow is competing directly with Hodgins and that Kumerow is a 4 core special teams guy.
