coordinator0
Well. This is less than ideal, but not a huge surprise.
DreamKid
@diamondbull424 Uh oh. If we get a high enough pick, could your Devonta Smith dream come true? 24 Y/O Top 10/15 Tackles don't hit the trade market often. EDC will get us something good. SalvadorsDeli
Trade him for a first. Use the pick to get a cost controlled stud replacement. Said it before but what the Niners did with Buckner and Kinlaw is the model to follow here.
DreamKid
"We'll trade Jared Gaither for a Top 10 pick then select Eric Berry to be Ed's long term heir at Safety". #11YearOldSpeculativeTradeIdeas 😅 I do wonder how high a pick we could get. Hayden fetched us a 2nd, discussions can't begin without someone offering a 1st for Orlando or a similarly young & high end player(Quinnen Williams, Justin Jefferson, etc). Gettleman likes his big boys in the trenches and they have Pick #11. That could be a good match.

NVM. Forgot they picked Andrew Thomas last year. Edited January 30, 2021 by DreamKid

baltimoreRebel
This was obviously coming. He won't be a Raven come September. Best thing to do is deal him for a multiple picks and move on.

It makes so much sense and they want to protect their new star QB. I want a haul though. It's a long off season. Play hard ball until the draft. Don't make the move if it doesn't make sense. Make teams sweat into training camp. I'll take the picks in 2022 with 2023 🤷🏻♂️
baltimoreRebel
Chargers Receive: Orlando Brown Ravens Receive: Derwin James 2022 2nd Round Pick. This would never happen but I'd take it. Even with Derwin injury history LOL
wackywabbit
Yep. Saw this coming. It's the right move for Zeus Jr, personally. He's better as a left tackle and it's far more lucrative. diamondbull424
This definitely isn’t the best offseason for this. With the QB carousel being what it is, probably more teams that will be looking to give up their picks at a chance at the lottery QB than with regard to the LT. It also doesn’t help that this OL class is so deep, teams might feel more comfortable with going the draft route than going with Brown Jr and then having to pay him next season. I’m sure we’ll get at least a 1st for him, but the idea of getting two 1sts is likely out the window. That said, this is probably the best season to be needing a RT replacement. I also thought team loyalty might pull through in this scenario to buy us more time.. Oh well, I suppose it was not meant to be. —— 23 minutes ago, DreamKid said: @diamondbull424 Uh oh. It’s certainly possible, but at this point, I think getting my other top option in Kyle Pitts might be more likely. Smith dominated to the point where teams can talk themselves into drafting him early and with him avoiding weigh ins and not having to go through a combine (which is where I thought issues would arise, teams would see him around those other athletic marvels and then lower him in their mind conceptually), I think he should maintain his status as a top 10 pick. If anything I think this probably helps the poster who was all in on Rashod Bateman. I can’t recall who it was, maybe @RavensTillIDieor @wackywabbit? It also makes it more likely that we could draft a guy like Jaylen Waddle... assuming we move Brown Jr, let alone for a top 15 pick. But if we do, Kyle Pitts has to be the option highest on our board. He would be a great fit out wide as a WR- as Waller is used, but also compress into the TE spots. Pitts impact at TE this past season was on a Calvin Johnson at Georgia Tech type of level. So yeah without a combine for him to run a 4.38-4.46 type 40 yard dash (as I believe he could do), his stock could be right in the range to obtain him. There are enough RT options that I’m not particularly concerned with replacing Brown Jr with quality play. Teven Jenkins would be just about the perfect replacement option. Very similar skillset to Brown Jr from the long arms to the strong run blocking and slight weakness to speed rush, but a weakness somewhat negated by their long arms.
DreamKid
Watch, we'll be all excited about the Top 20 Pick we'll get from this and spend all the lead up to draft speculating about which hot names we'll get. "Maybe we could even trade up for F'n Ja'Marr Chase atp!!!🔥🔥", etc. All for the FO to net like 3 trade downs in the 1st so we have 20 picks in the draft 🤣. The Raven way.
wackywabbit
To take a step back, he is a non-QB who is still on his rookie deal. He needs to a accrue this next season and has very little leverage. He can't really force the team's hand to trade him or anything. They could hold him and wait for a tag and trade next year, if they want. But they do need to form the plan for not being able to keep two good LTs.
