Detroit is dealing QB Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two future first-round picks, a third-round pick and QB Jared Goff, per sources. Two former No. 1 overall picks trading places in the first blockbuster NFL trade of 2021.

Well I love getting multiple 1sts, and hope the third is this year. Not sure Goff has much value in this deal but it does suck not getting a 1st this year.

The full blockbuster trade involving two former No. 1 overall draft picks ...

#Lions get:

QB Jared Goff

3rd-round pick in 2021

1st-round pick in 2022

1st-round pick in 2023

#Rams get:

QB Matthew Stafford

Lions get a QB for now with Goff. They add 1sts the next two years. Solid for the rebuild!!

So we are stuck with him for two years, which sort of sucks but guessing that’s what got us the extra 1st.  They likely will be late 1sts which sucks but still nice having multiple 1st for the first time since we traded Roy Williams. And if the other offers really were multiple 2nds and 3rds, this is definitely better.

Definitely how they got an extra 1st, and they don't have to reach for a QB in the draft. Holmes scouted Goff. He knows the player he's getting.

2021- #7, two 3rds

2022- 2 1sts, possible comp picks?!?

2023- 2 1sts

Does Jared Goff suck or something? Why aren’t we happy that we got two firsts and a starting QB?

He's not a top QB, but he's solid. He and McVay didn't see eye to eye, but Homes knows the player he just got. Add the draft picks and this was an amazing trade for the Lions.
