Alzheimers is just awful.

Also, never forget that AJ Smith did Marty dirty.

It really is. My grandfather lost a long battle with Alzheimers that was complicated by Covid in November. He was 92.

Marty arguably one of the most under rated HCs of all time.  Barely lost to Elway in the playoffs several times.  His 14-2 in SD was a juggernaut that picked off Brady to just about seal the game until the DB fumbles it back to the Pats.

His coaching tree was every bit as impressive as Bill Walsh s.  Thoughts and prayers and a lot of respect.

Marty will be missed. While everyone remembers Byner for “The Fumble”, what many people don’t know is that Marty probably saved his life by trading him. Earnest was suicidal after that play, so Marty traded him to Washington, where Byner won a ring. We lost a football legend today. The man had the heart of a giant.

Sad to see him go... but happy he went away peacefully and with his family by his side.
