Yeah, I gotta figure out why. I am dominating for 3 quarters every week and then just collapse each time.

It's got to be something in my settings. If the players were bad, it wouldn't look like that

I set Rubberband to 20.

seems like you have yours set too high

Week 8 Games:

Egypt Starfalls @ Hanoi Viet Kongs

The most interesting game of the slate, with 2 teams trending in opposite directions, and both in the playoff hunt in the number 5 position of their respective conferences.

As close to a midweek Playoff game as you can get, because one team will solidify themselves into the mix, and the other could get pushed even further back.

Pittsburgh Punishers @ Miami Sharks

Very winnable home game for the Sharks, and I would say it's a Must Win game here.

The Sharks must finish with a better record than the Pandas to make the playoffs, so they can't afford to be pushed further back. Note: The Sharks own the TB against Egypt, so with a win, they can more firmly join the In the Hunt teams and potentially make a run.

Chicago Fire @ Norway Knights

Is Chicago the best 2-5 team ever? Net points of 0, all of their losses have been close, and they have a very good team.

However, no excuses for Norway. They do have the TB over the Moose, so even with a loss, they would still be in first place.

Barring a collapse, Norway feels destined to host the loser of the arms race between REY/RJ in the WC round.

Rio de Janeiro Pirates @ South Africa Woolly Mammoths

Even with a loss, Rio would be in good shape, and REY still has the TB, so RJ can't move into first with a win. But the Pirates can't blink, or their Division hopes would melt away.

Phoenix Rattlers @ Freiburg Venom

Powerhouse battle here, and the only game between two teams currently slated to make the playoffs. Game of the Week matchup right here.

Venom already has a win over division rival Egypt, so this could be the week where FREI runs away with the division.

On the other side, PHO has a H2H win over Scranton, so they could move into first place with a win. Or...with a loss fall into the pack as there are 5 teams with a 4-3 or 3-4 record in the conference. Huge stakes in this game.

Richmond Flying Squirrels @ Little Rock Uni Royals

The Squirrels are desperately clinging to the 4th playoff spot in Salsa.

A loss isn't going to kill them. Like the bear analogy, they just have to run faster than the teams below them (namely, Pandas and Starfalls.

Rocket City Trash Pandas @ Scranton Papermakers

Not quite an elimination game for the Pandas, but we are getting there.

Scranton needs to keep winning to hold off the other 4-3 teams nipping at their heels.

Tacoma Thunder @ Anchorage Moose

Do or Die for the Thunder. I can't see them losing this game and still making the playoffs.

The Moose also needs to win to put pressure on the Knights for the division, stave off the Kongs, and not let the Thunder into the playoff mix. A lot of pressure on both teams here!

Indianapolis Predators @ Reykjavík Direwolves

After last week's debacle, REY plays the team with the worst record. Here's a chance for REY to make progress in securing the 1 seed. If they lose, the divisional battle between REY/RJ (current best rivalry in the NSFL) heats up even more.

Lancaster Fighting Amish @ Antarctica Penguin Poppers

Hope is still alive for the Amish! If they beat the Penguins, they are in a decent spot for a 2nd half run. If they lose, it's just not meant to be.

Looking forward to the yearly Snake Roundup. Maybe I will actually win one of these some day.

Tiering teams by natural gaps in pwny

  1. Direwolves, Pirates
  2. Squirrels, Knights, Venom
  3. Kongs, Starfall
  4. Papermarkers, Pandas, Fire, Moose, Rattlers
  5. Sharks, Mammoths, Royals, Poppers, Amish (Amish sort of hard to slot in naturally)
  6. Predators, Punishers

Notes

  • Red still looking strong, and with Hanoi getting a W, they move into a pretty solid spot in the quest to have 3 represented in the playoffs
  • Blue continue to underperform (record wise) in comparison to their strong pwnys
  • Squirrels and Direwolves continue to be on pace for the offensive records

Matchups

  • (8)Starfall @ (6)Kongs - two 4-3 teams battling it out to stay in good playoff standing. Game of the week
  • (11)Fire @ (4)Knights - Fire feel like they should be way better than 2-5. If they can pull the upset they still have a chance, but if they fall to 2-6 I think they are done. Similarly, if Knights move to 6-2 they will have a real strong hold on the division
  • (7)Thunder @ (12)Moose - Another blue division fight. Blue will either get much more clear or much more messy depending on who wins both these games
  • (19)Predators @ (1)Direwolves - After a really bad loss last week, the #2 offense faces the #19 defense. If we don't have a rebound game, I'll be a sad boy

Just wanted to say that I appreciate all the extra stuff folks are bringing into the league in between game days, it's interesting to see how the statistics stack up with the teams in the league, and previews of upcoming weeks is fun to read and gives me other games to look forward to in addition to my own. Shoutout to everyone participating, and thanks again @TheKillerNacho for continuing to host this league.
