Week 10 Games

Antarctica Penguin Poppers @ Rocket City Trash Pandas

Wow, the poppers are in the mix! After being left for dead, they pulled even at 4-4-1.

With the race in Salsa so close (8 teams at least within a game from the WC slot), this is a huge game for both teams' playoff hopes. The winner of this game will be ahead of the loser in the playoff race.

Reykjavík Direwolves @ Hanoi Viet Kongs* ON THE MOON

Oh boy, the Kongs challenged Lamar to a game where throwing the football will be almost impossible...what were they thinking??!!

This game is a great chance for the Kongs to prove that they belong in the dark horse discussion by beating a top tier team, albeit in a meme game.

The Direwolves are the Defacto number 1 seed in Cheesy, and they can potentially afford a slipup here.

Things are so close between the Kongs and Moose right now. You know the Kongs gotta want it more...but will it matter?

Chicago Fire @ South Africa Woolly Mammoths

Nothing too compelling here. Both teams need to make up a lot of ground to contend for a playoff spot.

Freiburg Venom @ Pittsburgh Punishers

The Venom dodged an RNG bullet against a bottom tier team last week. Can they do it again?

In NSFL, anyone can win at any moment.

So, this isnt a gimme, but if they take care of business, it's gonna be hard to wrest the number 1 Salsa seed from their grasp.

Egypt Starfalls @ Indianapolis Predators

The Starfalls are in a pretty great spot right now. They control their playoff destiny, and play a one-win team. If the Starfalls win, the playoff picture clears up, with likely only a couple teams in the hunt.

If they lose, chaos ensues.

Rio de Janeiro Pirates @ Lancaster Fighting Amish

Rio has "3 seed" imprinted on their forehead, regardless of the outcome of this match

(spoiler: It's gonna be a Rio win)

Scranton Papermakers @ Richmond Flying Squirrels

Oh boy. GAME OF THE WEEK

Green division leaders going at it!

Papermakers currently have the TB over the Squirrels with a 35-34 win in a previous week.

So if Scranton wins, they essentially have a 3 game lead in the div...and likely wrap it up.

If Richmond wins, they actually take the division lead via a better conference record.

SOOOOO much is on the line here. Bring your A-game gentlemen!

Norway Knights @ Tacoma Thunder

Norway is still precariously holding onto that 2 seed.

But Tacoma is the team that wont go away.

With a win, they would only be a game out of the division lead in the crazy, dumb, blue division.

If Thunder loses though, I would say that they are done and gone.

Miami Sharks @ Phoenix Rattlers

An elimination game if I ever seen one.

Both 4-5 records here, in a conference with so many in the race.

Little Rock Uni Royals @ Anchorage Moose

The Royals have been snakebitten this year with some ridiculous losses.

And this rematch is a reminder of the huge comeback by the Moose in their initial meeting.

The Moose are in a strange position: Very close to winning the division and getting the 2 seed. Very close to being eliminated from the playoffs altogether.

Slip up and still make the playoffs? Definitely

Slip up and still take the division and 1 seed? Ehhhhhh.. I have a 2 game lead, which is awesome for 9 games in. But if I lose this one Ruskie (I think) controls his own destiny because of our remaining matchup

I'll have to fight for everything. I fully expect to back in to the playoffs by finishing 0-3.

That’s a lot of points allowed! Be better at what you do.

Some interesting things there...  on defense its really clear that teams like the Direwolves, Pirates, Knights, even Kongs are at the top of the list for fewest points allowed, but much, much lower on yards allowed. It means those teams either get turnovers, or they hold teams to FGs or punts on long yardage drives instead of TDs. Probably a reason those are playoff teams

Same thing with Direwolves, Squirrels, Starfalls on offense. Much higher on the list of points for than they are yards for. Those teams are converting TDs and FGs instead of FGs and punts. Or starting in better field position means point drives are shorter.

It's interesting. I don't know if that means our teams are better/more efficient, or have had more than our fair share of luck to have been better on points metrics than yardage metrics
