Knights and Pirates are still only 1 game up over 5th place (although the H2H matchup of Kong/Moose makes it effectively a 2 game lead in the loss column). This was a massively important week for the Kongs, jumping over the Moose and putting them in control of their own destiny. Thunder and Mammoths are still within striking range, but this REALLY looks like a 5 team race right now for 4 spots. Poppers are trending in the right direction, although I still think all the spots will be held by those teams currently 5-4 or better. In this conference, 10 wins gets in easy, while I think both 4th and 5th seed will be 9-7. Can't wait to see this cluster continue The week ahead Poppers @ Pandas - this one really matters for both teams. The winner puts themselves in a really good position, while the loser gets themselves into a lot of trouble with 5 (or 5.5) losses Direwolves @ Kongs - no idea how this one plays out. It matters for the Direwolves for seeding (maintain or extending the division lead would be huge, while narrowing the lead with a H2H against the Pirates would be oppositely huge). For the Kongs, a win puts them in a strong position to hold onto that 4th spot, while a loss opens the door for the #2 blue team to swoop in Fire @ Mammoths - Both teams are basically out of this, but a loss for either one makes it official. The winner maintains their slim hopes Venom @ Punishers - Nothing to see here. Should be an easy one, but if something surprising happens it leaves the door open at the top of the conference Starfalls @ Predators - See above. Should be an expected result, but a Starfall loss would be devastating Pirates @ Amish - Once more, see above. Pirates can weather the loss here, but it probably would take the division off of the table. This week is an opportunity for the Pirates to close the gap if the Kongs can beat the Direwolves. Papermakers @ Squirrels - game of the week. If the Papermakers win, they are very nearly clinched with all the attrition that will happen below them. A loss brings them right into the muck with everyone else. Probably even more important for the Squirrels at home though. A win gives them a division lead and at worst maintains pace with the competition, while a loss drops them into the 5th-7th range, and despite the .500 record, would need to leapfrog a few teams Knights @ Thunder - last chance for the Thunder. A 6th loss puts them out of the playoff picture, while a win keeps them very much in the running. Knights are looking to maintain the division/2nd seed, and possibly inch up on the potential 1 seed. They will still be okay with the loss, but it puts a little more pressure on them if they do Sharks @ Rattlers - loser is basically out.
