FA 2021 - WR Chris Godwin franchise tagged

Recommended Posts

Wow, what a difference a year makes.  Last year, Licht signed the greatest FA ever.  We all know the FAs on the team.  Who stays?  Who goes?

I ll be curious how they handle RB.  Shady is not coming back.  Fournette maybe, but what would a James White type RB do for this offense.

Depth at OL.  Haeg probably won t be coming back.  Stinnie might get more money in FA.

Finally the Brady factor.  FAs who want to ring chase and are willing to take a big pay cut.

We need James White to take over for McCoy spot.

Other than that dont really need much. Need to draft depth at DT/OLB/OL rounds 1-3.

Shaq Godwin David Suh Gronk Succop all come back.

Haeg Leonard AB will be on new teams making more $

White will be 29 with a cap hit of 4.5 million.  Doubtful he ll get a pay raise in FA.  Definitely think he is in play.

If they sign a RB in FA, no need to draft a RB until day 3.  Vaughn was effective.  Yeah, he needs ball security, but that can be taught.

I think either NACHO or McClendon gets signed, but not both.  Curious to see if there will be any possible ring chasers.  Maybe a Ryan Kerrigan or Aldon Smith as an example?

My depth chart at OLB heading into the draft - JPP, Shaq, Kerrigan, Nelson, Gill-  never under estimate the Brady effect on the vet who made his money and just wants to win.

AQ Shipley said he and a ton of guys all immediately tried to sign with the Bucs as soon as Brady was announced.

I can only imagine a Super Bowl will make those guys a little more persistent.

Its going to be interesting how they maneuver around this Cap, so many Future Stars are going to need to get paid in the future (Godwin this year, Vea, White)

FA KEEPS

Succop needs to be back FOR SURE

Godwin shouldnt go anywhere

should find a way to keep Shaq

Cant let David go anwhere

Dont know

would love to keep SUH

idk about Fournette he'll get alot more if he goes elsewhere

i honestly dont even want AB back unless he stays taking cheap deals

New FAs

i wonder which FA we can attract?

Since James White is a FA that has to be a lock but you never know, but it is the only thing we really missed on offense this year

Definitely need a new Punter

I do think there is a price they re willing to spend on kicker, Succop could go.  Agree on Pinion.  His cap hit is 2.8 million with no dead money.  He is in trouble because the punter/kickoff specialist is not unique.

TE position is interesting.  I think Gronk resigns for 6  million.  OJ or Cam?  If it was me, Cam is the choice with another pay cut.  However, it will probably be OJ and hope he can finally play in all the games.

Franchise Godwin probably.  We all luv him, but the truth he has only 1 1000 yd season.  I don t think it would happen, but resigning AB with Miller and Johnson and let someone else pay Godwin 17 million per yr.  The franchise tag last season for WR was 17.8 million.  I have no issue with any player to go get his money.  Licht has shown an ability to draft WRs outside the first round.

Brady stays Gronk stays thats an easy one

someone reminded me a few weeks back that Brate and OJ are under decent contracts next year so i dont see the TEs changing

you bring up a good point about Godwin though... I'd hate to see him leave but youre right, Johnson and Miller are very capable and AB would probably be cheaper than Godwin

can bucs just cheat the cap like the Saints do every year? kick the can and resign everyone for peanuts.

Bucs have shown an unwillingness to use the signing bonus option going with guaranteeing the first 2 yrs of a contract.  I don t expect that to change very much so they don t manipulate the cap as much as other teams.
