London Monarchs

Offensive Gameplan

Run Heavy

While we are glad to have Matrioa back in the lineup this week we are going to be using a combo of CJ Anderson and Samaje Perine. We feel like despite the fact we are facing off with a real strong Defensive line in Berlin that we can get good push. We plan on running counters with using both Kyle Long and Zack Martin as pulling guards depending on which side we decided to attack. Also move Walker around to help with blocking as well. We will also look for bubble screens to Anderson.

Passing Plan

We will be passing out of a two tight end set a lot this week due to the pass rush that Berlin can  bring and given Matrioa is only just coming back from injury. So we are going to look to give him as much protection as possible to allow him to try and get the ball to Cooks and Moncrief and attack a secondary that has been hurt by injures

Defensive Gameplan

Don’t get beat deep

We are set to face off with two of the fastest receivers in the league this week as we face off with Tyreek Hill and DeSean Jackson and because of this we are going to be playing a lot deep zone coverage this week we will also be added a 4th corner to the defence in rookie Tre'Davious White added. We feel like as long as we can keep Hill and Jackson in front of us then they can do less damage. We also plan to have Minter act as a spy so we can keep an eye on Rudolph and also make sure we can contain the run game.

Attack WInston

With Trent Williams struggling and Moton a rookie back up likely to see time on the line we are going to go with a lot of 4 men blitzes. Look to rotate both Mack and Hughes around so they can attack the left side of the line. Also we have bought in Collins to the middle of the line to get after Winston through the middle of the line.

Berlin Blitzkrieg

Offense
We plan on using our two TE set frequently this week.  London has two very good edge rushers including a beast in Mack, but their DTs and LBs are suspect.  Kyle is old and Marcell has been in the doghouse most of the season.  We believe that our OL can open up holes regularly and get to the second level.  We plan on attacking their LBs head-on with inside runs with Gillislee and Foreman, but we especially want to make their LBs move sideline-to-sideline as we don’t think they can effectively guard the perimeter.  Foreman and Miller will be used frequently off-tackle.  We expect our OL to win their battles without help, except that Mack will get double teamed with a TE regularly.  We want to grind down the front 7 on London and wear them out as  there is not a great deal of depth on their DL.

We will also attack their LBs in the passing game with our TEs and RBs.  Both Rudolph and Henry are great intermediate targets and we will use them to keep the chains moving.  This will also help us limit Mack’s impact through a quicker passing attack.  Whichever is on Mack’s side will chip him before going into their route to limit his impact even more.

This said, we will not forget our deep passing attack.  White has played very well as a rookie aside from getting burned deep last week, but London’s other CBs have struggled so far this year.  We won’t shy away from any of them.  DJax and Tyreek will get their shots to break off big plays down the field.  Earl Thomas is an absolute stud, but even he can’t cover both sides deep against this level of speed.

Where London plays Jefferson will also dictate how we attack London.  If he is up in the box, look for us to take our deep shots more often.  If he has to sit back in a 2 Deep Shell due to our deep speed, we will run more and use their TEs.

To try and force Jefferson to sit deep, we will use our 3 WR set with Fuller, Tyreek, and DJax.  This set will make them hold both safeties back which will open up our running game even more.  If for some reason they still don’t put Jefferson deep in this set, we think our WRs will be able to run wild.

Defense
Mariota may not play this week, but even if he does, he hasn’t run a full sprint as of Saturday.  This means we don’t have to concern ourselves as much with him as a rushing threat.  As such, we want to remove London’s rushing attack and make him beat us with his arm.

This starts up front.  All of our DL are very good in the run game, so despite London having a good OL, we think we can win at the LOS and keep our LBs clean to shut down their rushing attack.

Haha plays up in the box to help in the run game.  One LB will target the RB.  The other LB will be serving multiple roles including spying Mariota(rarely and only if he shows surprising mobility), dropping into a middle zone, blitzing to force Mariota to have to move, and helping to double Delanie.  The LBs will switch responsibilities to keep London guessing.  We want to force Mariota off his spot and see how well he can actually move.

We have two main focuses in the passing game, Cooks and Delanie.  Rollins takes Cooks with Gipson bracketing him.  Haha plays up in the box and takes Delanie and as we stated, will get help on occasion from one of the LBs.  Bouye takes Moncrief and Hilton gets Lee.  We think that we can win all of those match ups long enough to allow our pass rush to harass Mariota.  We especially think we will have a big advantage against Dawkins who struggled against Carl Lawson IRL last week.  If he doesn’t get frequent help, our pass rushers will have a field day.  And if they do help him, that’s one less target we have to cover.

Berlin's come into this matchup better prepared and although Mariota didn't look awful, he's not quite 100% which limits his effectiveness a bit I feel. Both very good OLs although the edge has to go to Berlin with a two TE set heading into a 6 DB look as a base. Berlin has almost exclusively gone 2 TE which makes it even more puzzling a move. Anyway, Berlin 24 - London 13

I agree 100 percent with this. This is exactly how I saw it.

I've been trying to come up with a London joke for a solid minute and I don't have infintea to come up with one so screw it.

London really got screwed this year with injuries... a massive luxury to have two top 16 QBs and both of them have gotten hurt. Mariota still is dinged up and Berlin has the better gameplan so Berlin.
