Not when it matters.

Simmons needs work, for sure. He struggled against Atlanta but he was good last series and has been fine in the playoffs before.

Honestly, he's not a PG. Guy really should just work on his post game and operate as a point forward. He's a far better player than McCollum and would be a really nice fit with Lillard.

He's a far better regular season player, yes. He's also a good fit in Portland. He's still a massive liability to a contender the further along you go in the postseason. Saying he was good against the Wizards isn't saying much.

He's really not if you use him correctly. He'd be a very good 4.

He clearly had some mental blocks this postseason though, which could be a huge issue moving forward.

How do you use him correctly in the playoffs? It's not like he was playing PG and camping on the outside or standing in the corner. He was hanging around in the dunker spot being ignored so they could double Embiid. He was already playing the 4 on offense.

Who do you think would have helped Philadelphia more against Atlanta?

CJ, and I think Simmons would've helped more against Denver. That doesn't really prove a thing. Ben Simmons is a better basketball player. He's only 24.  I know we're coming off easily the worst stretch of Simmons career but look at the big picture.

so what age do we have to accept Simmons is who he is?

Was he good against Toronto in 2019 or Boston in 2018? Who cares what a player does against overmatched teams, how about when it is an even series or close to one? He's just not going to be a factor when his team needs to be since he already has a passive mindset to start and then he is even more passive when he is having FT woes.

CJ is flawed himself, but I'd take him over Simmons for what Philly needs. CJ isn't a superstar perimeter player but he gives you another option aside from Harris who just can't be relied upon as your go to guy in these big games.

Philly can have Embiid, Harris, CJ and soon Maxey as scoring options along with Seth and they will be able to compete much better.
