WR Adrian Canidate goes #3 to the Vikings. He will replace Vikings legend Antonio Brown who just retired

DT Austin Edwards goes to the Chiefs

SS Tyler Raymond goes 5th to the Titans. Dunno who that is

FA Erick Quinton 6th. I forgot who picked him

WR Denard Lloyd 7th to the 9ers

OG Nate Fender 8th to the Steelers

CB Shon Flowers 9th to the Raiders.

Rams take ROLB COrtney Freeman idk who that is

And WR Carlos Generals goes 11th, rats. That was kind of who I was looking at if I were to stick at 12.

Here is the remaining board at 12.

Kind of a ****ty board. Golston the BPA but I'm not taking a 5'9 corner after I just drafted a corner.

I like what I am seeing from Darrell Nixon he is an early 1st talent, but man. He is a power build. I need Pass Pro and Agile lineman. He could end up being like 77 Power and 70 of the other 2 and he would forever be a power lineman and lose out on the XP boost. Not sure I want to take that risk here. I think I have to look to trade down. Let me see if I can move down to around 20 and pick up a couple mid rounders.

TRADE
FALCONS RECEIVE SAINTS RECEIVE
- 1.27 - -   1.12
  3.27     TE HAYDEN HURST 79 S
  4.27

I know, this is a little weird trading in the division. But I feel this makes sense for the Saints who like having a good tight end in their offense. They are essentially trading next to nothing for Hurst, I had to add him in to make the deal work. Pretty ****ty value for me, but it gets what I wanted done. I couldn't get any higher than this. That means I won't be getting that lineman I like, but it is what it is. Updated picks:

3.27 via SAINTS

Let's just sim right to 27.

Well farts. All of the 1st round projected players on my board are gone.

3M 2M OL D'ANDRE SUTTLE 22 6.05 319 WISCONSIN AGILE 6.6

I think this is pretty clear considering I pick again in like 6 picks. Only one player here who I would be angry missing out on.

Another great pick! 2/2 so far with hidden players. First 2 picks two long fast players in the secondry. After the draft is done I will check out which safety spot Randall will play, but I am thinking FS for now.

Let's sim to 2.02 and see who's available.

I am not really in love with who is here, and I am really liking some of these 4th round guys. I think this is another spot for me to try to trade down, pick up a late 2nd and 3rd, and have another ddart throw at these mid round guys. I like Dell, but he doesn't have the size I want. He would likely turn into depth, and I still have Deion Jones and Oluokun.

TRADE
FALCONS RECEIVE JETS RECEIVE
- 2.23 - -   2.02
  3.23     DT JOHN COMINSKY 72 N

This should be my last trade. This is better than I was expecting to do. I have now replenished my mid round picks, and lets sim and get this draft done with.

The Jets actually select LB Taylor Dell with that trade up, that's who I would have taken.

I simmed to 2.23. Here's the remaining board.

7L 2L DT WILL PARSONS 22 6.04 303 VANDERBILT RUN STOPPER 5.2

This is a tough decision. I have two players with 3 stars, and I don't know if I would get TE Sherman at 3.23 if I wait. I traded Hurst so I need a starting TE. I think I need to choose between one of these OL Suttle and Pryor and take one now.

They are both 22. They are both scheme fits somewhere - Suttle anywhere but LT, and Pryor at LT. Pryor does not have great size for a LT, but Suttle has great size for any spot, including RT. I need all 5 positions on the OL.

I really want to take Pryor because he is a late 1st talent, but I am not loving his size. Not that that matters in a sim, I just have a hard time starting a 6'2 LT with likely short arms. I could keep him at C and train his as an Agile blocker, though.

Ultimately, I am scared off by Suttle's top stats - impact block and lead block. Those aren't normally a good sign.

FALCONS PICK 2.23
OL
SAL PRYOR
sdEEWpcl.jpg
6.02 298 22 AGE
PASS 72 AGILE 71 POW 68
72 OVR

Can't be mad about this. Best case here - he is 71 agile, which can be trained to be his top skill. He will lielly start day 1 at C.

On to 2.31. Same board. Suttle just went, so this pick is easy.

FALCONS PICK 2.27
TE
PIERRE SHERMAN
2d07MLjl.jpg
6.04 253 21 AGE

Can't be mad about this either. He has all the intangibles, he just needs to grow. He isn't good enough to focus train Tight ends, that's for damn sure, so I will be weak at TE for a while.

Simming to my next pick at 3.23. I am going to do all 6 remaining picks in one post as I have 7 players left on my board. Here's the board.

I think this board makes it clear how I want to pick here. Branch is a jag and I can probably find a couple comparable guys in UDFA.

Last pick, more depth on the DL. Some of these guys will play DT and some DE, I just have to figure out who plays where. I have open starting spots at DT and LE, but I could still play Marlon Davidson for another year and make DL a priority next year. Just not sure I want to with impact positions.

That ends another draft. I will do a summary of the draft tomorrow night and go over the best players from the class. I hope to stream a game later tomorrow as well, whether it be week 1 or something closer to the end of the year we will see. This team will be bad again, so I don't plan on streaming more than one.

Pretty good draft.  Friedman is going to be a stud and looks like an X-Factor to me.  Randall was a good value pick.  I think Sherman will develop a little better than you think he will, especially if he gets starting reps right away.  Beyond that, a lot of good depth picks on the DL.  I think finding a franchise LT will be a high priority in the next year or two, and really a true #1 WR.  After that, you still need that stud ILB.   Home run pick on Friedman though.

Truth. I just hate that you traded with the Saints. The bitter Rival.

tbh man they're the only late 20s team that had any interest in Hurst. I had to do it. If I had just done a straight pick swap I would have only gotten their 3rd rounder, which is a joke.

Fair enough. I would have gone Randall at that pick regardless.

If Friedman is an X Factor that would be legit. I don't necessarily love having CBs who are X Factors just because they don't really have a big impact, just don't throw to them. Give me front 7 X Factors on defense. Obviously matters less when simming.

I am happy with how this draft turned out. I flipped 1.12 and 2.02 for 5 picks, which I used to draft:

  • 1.27 FS Randall, starter
  • 2.27 TE Sherman, starter
  • 3.23 OL Matthews, likely starter
  • 3.27 DL Osgood, depth
  • 4.27 DL Childs, starter

If I stayed at 12, I would have taken OL Nixon or MLB Dawson, and at 2.02 I would have taken MLB Taylor Dell. We will see later if I made the right decision, but I think having more picks in the first few drafts to fill the roster is the right call.

Not sure I agree on Sherman development. Tight ends are neglected in this game - they don't have a year end reward, and how do you train tight ends when you can train OL, WR, QB? It's hard to allocate the training away from 10 OL or 6 WR for example for 1 or 2 tight ends that actually get playing time. Perhaps I will look at adjusting sliders for tight end development to 110% or something.

Completely agree, my 3 biggest needs next year will be WR, LT (and RT), and ILB. Hopefully we have a good draft

I think your QB is the most important guy. Keep training him til he's like a pure 85 overall and then start moving to the other positions. He'll be on auto pilot once you get him that high and will be in the 90s before you know it. As far as TE goes, I'd up the slider on that development. The rest of it looks good. And Randall at FS makes a ton of sense.
