Next 10-year TV deals could be done “within a month”

Will the cap not drop then?

They can't estimate the cap until they have a projected income for the year. They can't project the income until they know how many people are going to be allowed in the stadiums. And they can't figure this out this until a new TV deal gets done because they wanna start a 17 game season this year but they have to negotiate this with the networks first.

The league usually sends each team a projected salary cap in the month of December that is generally within 3-5M give or take but this year they couldn't do it because of COVID and the new TV deal hitting them all at once. This is why we haven't seen the media post too many projections (other than their own guess) because no one has any idea yet.

Needless to say, this was the worst time for the NFL to get with COVID.

The cap is still projected to drop just not to 175, which they initially thought it would go to. 180 was the projected in the last couple of months but with the new deal they will likely put it around 185 mil while 2022 will go back to the norm which is around the 205-210 mil range. This deal will definitely impact the cap for the league but it is still expected to be less than it was last year.

The NFL has always done things quite differently from the other major leagues in terms of scheduling in accordance with the local time zone.

The vast majority of games in the other sports leagues are played at night, and scheduled at a time convenient to the people living in the area where the game is played which is usually 7 or 7:30 PM local time. Likewise, afternoon games usually never start before noon in the local time zone.

The NFL schedules most of its games at 1 PM ET or within the 4 PM hour ET on Sunday afternoons. The only real local time rules are that games hosted by non-Chiefs West Division teams cannot be played in the 1 PM ET slot, because locally it's still morning and church services are still going on. Thus, games in those stadiums always start within the 4 PM hour on the East Coast, which is 1 PM on the West Coast.

Primetime games are almost always scheduled to start within the 8 PM hour on the East Coast, regardless of where the game is played. The only exceptions are the week 1 MNF DH.

So, for the most part, time zones don't matter as much in the NFL as they do in other major sports leagues, only that MT/PT games can't be played in the 1 PM slot.

What a joke

The NFL ; We want 3.5 Billion for one game a week

Also the NFL ; The Salary cap is going to be 185 instead of 195 because we dont have enough money.

For my understanding disney wants to double header game on Monday night. One on ESPN the other on ABC. This also includes streaming rights.
