I just don’t see any way that we start a Rookie at Center this year. And while Meinerz can be an NFL Guard, I think he will be a much better center (even right off the bat). And in the same vein, I think there are better immediate options at Guard.

In the absolute best case, I am off on the run of Offensive Lineman coming in the first round, and Jalen Mayfield falls enough for us to get him. He is the perfect developmental LT, who could be a damn good RT immediately, and in our specific situation could be a good guard for a bit allowing Corbett to be the Center this year.

But in a slightly more realistic scenario, Wyatt Davis is the perfect guard for us, would upgrade the OL significantly, and could be a stalwart on the Line for a long time

Idk I tend to disagree with that notion. Of the team feels that a guy like Meinerz could be their franchise Center (which obviously none of us know for sure), then don’t you think they’d take him? Even if it meant him playing guard for a year. Even if Corbett ends up playing Center for the year, I think that that’s only a short term solution, rather than a permanent fix. And if Meinerz is really better suited at C than Guard, even right off the bat, then I don’t see the issue in him being a rookie center for us. Stafford is great at reading defenses. We don’t have Goff back there anymore where we need someone else to pick up on things that he doesn’t.
I guess I’d rather get a great Center than a great Guard—in an effort to help now AND the future. And for what it’s worth, I don’t think that Wyatt Davis would be available when we pick—though you won’t hear me complain one bit if we get him.

If no one else, who’s the ONE guy you hope we come out of this draft with? Obviously out of guys we have a realistic shot at.
For me, it’s Quinn Meinerz

Creed Humphrey

Dee Eskridge

Eskridge or Meinerz for me.

For me personally, I’m really not a fan of Eskridge. Yes he’s a burner, but I like a lot of the other guys that offer that in this class a lot more. For whatever my opinion is worth haha

He's more than a burner imo. Twitched-up player who has the potential to run routes at a very high level, great return specialist, and surehanded as a WR. Plus, he plays angry. Love his game.

I think Mayfield is a Guard in the NFL. Has the potential to be great there, though.

I think in 3 years he could become a very good LT. Ive backed off of the "Top LT" stance (still think he has that potential) but I see him definitely taking over as a LT by the end of his rookie deal.

I realize this is alot of projection for him, but I like the jumps in improvement Ive already seen each year, and the performance against highly valued rushers from the Big Ten. I also think he has a very sculptable body for the NFL, not that hes going to be Bruce Campbell, but he has room to transform a bit to help with his power and movement.

I don't see LT movement skills.

I would agree, today. But thats why I project him, because I think he is bottom heavy. And I think he can sculpt up, and his movement skills at his current size traslate really well if he would work himself into shape

My hope would be Samuel.  Would be a perfect replacement for Hill and we could easily lose DWill next year.  That said, zero chance he falls to 57 IMO.

I don't know that I see the great need for Samuel, but - without currently knowing who we'd be passing on to make the pick - if he was the natural pick (i.e. not traded-up-for), I wouldn't be dissatisfied because as long as we maintain the same core concepts of Staley's defense under Morris, Samuel is tailormade for our scheme with a skillset that very much can translate to tallies in the win column.  I generally hate making comparisons of family-relations when it comes to players, but Asante Jr. and Asante Sr. really are extremely mirroring types (mirroring as in alike, not as in the skill of mirroring in coverage).  Instinctive, quick-process/react ability, and an ideal foil to a lockdown-corner partner in Ramsey.  He's a predatory zone-corner who has traits that remind of the likes of Nathan Vasher (to a lesser extent Peanut Tillman, but I wanted to go conservative here because a lot of people will equate a Tillman comp to a semi-regular Pro Bowler), Phillip Buchanon (minus the track speed), and Tim Jennings.

I'm on board with CB being a big need. Not sure how big of a need the Rams think it will be but with losing Hill and him taking 95% of defensive snaps last year that's a lot of game time to be replaced. We quite honestly haven't seen enough of Long to know if he can do it and we also don't know if we sign Williams for anything more than a year. It is a need for this year IMO and a huge need for the future. And Samuel isn't the only one I'd target in the 2nd or 3rd round.
