Big T
If the Jets as a team were taken to the hospital, they would be found at the intensive care division. So lets begin there, what is the most glaring need for the team going forward? Consider if you will an offensive line which was the worse in football. THIS, is the most glaring need for the Jets especially if they want to keep the QB upright (whom ever that would be). So outside of QB, the most glaring need would be on the OL. JD hear me out! Don't skimp on the OL, sign one of the top tier OL in FA. Jets franchise Maye The next glaring need is weapons for the team. Again, JD hear me out! Don't skimp on WR, sign one of the blue chip FA WR's available (scheme fit) Now that we have addressed 2 glaring O needs lets get on to the Draft. In this scenario the Jets trade the 2nd over all pick (Darnold's in a do or die scenario) to Atlanta for Atlanta's 1st rounder, a second rounder this year and a 1st rounder next year. Atlanta takes a QB (insert who you will). The Jets draft Kyle Pitts (if Pitts falls beyond 4 I will be astonished!) The Jets follow that pick up at 23 with an offensive lineman. The Jets pick at 23 is G/T Alijah Vera-Tucker. 2. DT Christian Barmore 2. CB Aaron Robinson (Atlanta) 3. C Creed Humphrey 3. OLB Pete Warner 4. S Caden Sterns 5. RB Kenneth Gainwell 5. CB Camryn Bynum 7. WR Dez Fitzpatrick So in summation FA WR FA OL Kyle Pitts TE Vera-Tucker G/T Robinson CB Humprey C Sterns S Gainwell RB Bynum CB Fitzpatrick WR Warner Sterns Gainwell The Jets add 3 OL, pick up the best non QB player in the draft, address LB, RB, WR, CB, S, and add 2 more starting calibre OL. jetfuel34
Ya I don't like this at all. I'm fine with the Jets staying with Sam but taking Pitt before D. Smith and Chase I woild be VERY MAD. I have already explained why I hate picking a TE in the first let alone TOP 4!!!! I don't care how good that TE suppose to be it is just not worth it.

Plus we don't actually land a lot of "weapons" aside from Pitts. I don't want to design an offense around the tight end. I know SF basically did with Kittle but that dude is beyond special. I don't think it is realistic to think that we can draft Pitts and he becomes the next Kittle. Besides, one FA wide receiver and a seventh rounder is not good enough, a running back in the fifth round is not nearly good enough either. I want one of the top RBs in this draft (Etienne or Harris). I also want one of Devonta Smith or Penei Sewell if we are moving down from No. 2. Lastly, I want a quality quarterback (either via the draft, free agency or trade) if we are keeping Darnold, because we will need help there for bloody certain. xrade
I don’t like keeping Sam but I can get on board if JD thinks he can be salvaged. On to my love/hate evaluation of the mock. Love Pitts but hate not upgrading WR more. Love the attention to the OL but hate the overkill of a top iOL in FA Tucker and Creed. Just get two of them. Love getting DL high but hate DT. We have Q, Fats, JFM, and Shepherd. We need A LEO and edge which you do not address at all. Hate that Werner is the only OLB addition. He is a decent against the run but his coverage skills are lacking from what little I have read. Saleh needs OLB’s to make his D work. I doubt Werner will be IT. jetsfan4life51
I would read your posts more if they were formatted better. Really tough on the eyes.
SDotNova
I think it would help if you put who you expect to be the FA WR and OL we land. I like Pitts and Vera-Tucker. Depending on who you have us landing in FA, Vera-Tucker could make our OL very good. Gainwell fits our scheme well. If we miss out on the top 2 RBs, he’s the guy I want. However, I think it’s optimistic to think we can land him in the 5th. Who knows though. The draft is full over surprises.
Big T
Well, we landed a top WR in FA, and a promising ER in Lawson. Which means we do not have to address those positions at anytime in the draft. The offensive line becomes the elephant in the room at this point, and the most glaring need knowing we ranked last in the NFL. One only need to look at how a game can change when your OL is hurting. The Chiefs were at a distinct disadvantage in the S.B. and they went out and gave a monster contract to Thuney. I suspect they will draft a OL first and foremost come April. To protect their monster of a QB. Which brings me to our most pressing need. I would be shocked if the Jets did not draft at least 2 OL, unless they believe that Cameron Clarke can step in this year and do the job. We cannot win without an OL, and outside of Becton, none of the others are what I would call ascending players. McGovern did not play up to his potential if the year before is any indication of what he was supposed to be. The rest of the line was terrible. So should the QB be Darnold, Wilson, or Watson, we better have that line up and running or were going to have a long season ahead of us. Likewise it would be criminal if we didn't address the CB/S position as well. If we can come out of the draft having addressed these major glaring position of needs then I believe we compete sooner than later.

That is an improvement. JD seems to like McGovern, he picked it up as the season wore on even surrounded by subpar OG’s. Hence the reason for not even calling on Lindsey. Turner/Jackson, McGovern and a top rookie is not too bad.
