I also use Spotrac for additional information or specifics on a player’s contract. For the purposes of this mock, all incentives in contracts will be ignored unless they are part of the salary shown on OTC or SpotracFree Agency NFL Free Agents or players on an NFL Practice Squad may be signed to this mock team for the veteran minimum. Players on this mock roster may be extended like while under contract with an NFL team. If this mock team claims the rights to an NFL free agent and that player then signs a contract with an NFL team, this mock team will be given the chance to outbid the contract by 5% (both APY and Total Guaranteed) to retain the rights to that player. If the Free Agent re-signs with the team they’ve most recently been under contract with I will need to outbid the contract by 10% rather than 5%. If the contract I am already paying the player is at least 90% of the IRL contract they receive, I only have to match the NFL team's offer rather than beat it. If the player has been active on my roster for at least one preseason or regular season game, I only have to match the NFL team's offer rather than beat it. If a player signs with the real life Saints I will be given the chance to sign that player to this mock roster. I must match the real life offer to sign or retain that player, an overpay is not required.Restructuring Contracts A player’s base salary may be converted to a fully guaranteed prorated bonus spread over the length of the remaining contract. Some other bonuses, mainly roster bonuses that are not guaranteed, may be treated as a base salary for the purposes of a restructure as well. Trades I will try to check in with fan bases of other teams before making any major trades where I’m unsure on the value. I’ll also be checking in with fan bases to see if they might like to trade back in the 1st or trade back into the 1st to check my options for draft day trades. I will err on the side of caution and lean towards less simulated trades unless I feel like the trade clearly favors the team I am trading with. If I make any draft day trades, I will only make trades comparable to trades we’ve seen in real life.Roster I’m taking over the Saints roster, salaries and draft picks according to OverTheCap on Wednesday March 3rd, this includes the signing of Safety JT Gray, the restructure of David Onyemata’s 2021 cap implications, and Josh Hill's release. He is now essentially locked up for the next two seasons with this restructure. He had a down year after having surgery in previous offseason but he's never missed a game and I have faith he's going to bounce back and play at a high level again. I hope to have Jordan retire as a lifelong Saint, this gets us a little closer to that. Restructure Demario Davis $4,725,000 $0 $1,625,000 of Demario's base salary and a $3,600,000 roster bonus are converted to a prorated signing bonus. I've seen some Patriots fans eyeing the idea of trading a late pick for Brown or picking Brown up if the Saints cut him. I think because they're only giving up the later of two 6th round picks and have zero cap ramifications if it doesn't work out, the Patriots would be willing to make this move and take on Brown's (less than) $5m base salary for 2021. IRL this somehow works out to an $850,000 cap hit, which I don't think I understand. They get counted at a reduced rate on the cap so Montgomery only counts for 850K due to that. I think I'll just keep Montgomery at 1.1 million for now, just in case I'm saving more money than I should somewhere else (like the restructures, OTC gave me a better savings than the IRL Saints got) it should help balance it out. Ramczyk to the Panthers for their 2nd and Lattimore to the Browns for their 1st. No dead money from trading players in their option year. Dome Posted March 9, 2021 Author Share Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) Saints trade Emmanuel Sanders and a conditional pick to Washington Football Team for both of their 7th round picks in 2021. WFT has the option to restructure Sanders to save $2.5m this year, pushing another $2.5m into the void year on his deal. He'll be a great option behind McLaughlin and Thomas, for whoever they decide to play at QB this season. If Sanders is cut before Week 1 of the 2021 regular season the Saints send a 2022 7th round pick back to WFT. Just $6,000,000 more to clear. I'm probably going to extend Ramczyk to get it done. Not sure if I'm going to trade Lattimore or extend him. After that I can franchise tag/extend Marcus Williams.
