Wells guys I've kept it for on the down low but figured basically being done I'd let you all blast for me or love it for how it turned out. Lots of teams ended up keeping all the really good WR.  I basically took a BPA most of the draft so WR are still meh, but the lines look way better now.  Can't fix everything in one offseason.  Older guys are on one or two year deals so not long term cap implications. Still have almost 9 mill left

Resigned

Breshard Perriman - got him pretty cheap.  Still has them speed and some size

Patrick Onwuasor - depth lb

Brian Poole -  one of the better slot corners. No brainer

Marcus Maye -  running a cover three safeties almost more important than corners

Bradley MacDougald-  cover three experience from Seattle

Signed

Nick Foles -  got him cheap to improve backup qb situation

Kenyan Drake -  also came cheaper than I expected. 1000 yard rusher with good hands

Antonio Brown -  ya I know but he too was cheap and fits the shanny offense really well

Jordan Reed -  Knows the system, great when healthy which sadly isn't often

Evan Boehm -  C/G depth

Olivier Vernon - incentive laden deal due to to injury.  Solid veteran pass rusher

Denico Autry - versatile edge in base that can move inside for passing downs

LB AJ Klein -  Veteran lb who should do well in zone based scheme

Ronald Darby -  missed out on people giving stupid money to a couple corners. Darby is a solid vet

Greg Zeurlein - no longer Greg the leg he was still almost automatic inside 50 last year

Draft

1.2 Penei Sewell -  No matter what the team does, if the qb is getting killed it doesn't matter. Two bookends for the next decade gives ample time

1.23 Edge Jaelin Phillips the U - no real flaws in this youngsters game. Great fit for the 4-3 end across from Vernon/Autry

2.11.  C Landon Dickerson Bama -  This kid is an easy first round pick if he doesn't get hurt.  Imo we get the best two tackles and the best C from the past two drafts

3.2.  RB Javonte Williams UNC-  potential three down back that also served as a lead Blocker at times at UNC. Can be Jusyk 2.0 just faster

3.15.QB Kyle Trask Florida -  only pick I'm second guessing. I like Trask and I think he's going to be good so this was more BPA to me

Pick 4.2 LB Jamin Davis  Kentucky - was shocked this kid was still there in the fourth. Hearing late first earl second round buzz.  Should be able to play all three downs in a zone heavy scheme

4.19.WR Tutu Atwell - Louisville.  This kid can score whenever he gets the ball. He's short and more a gadget slot guy but draw up ways to get the ball in his hands and he's special. Can be kick returner also

5.2 CB Rodarious Williams  OK State.  This is Greedys brother.  Has great hand placement and solid instincts.  Played in off the ball more than often in college but should be a good cover three fit

5.10 S Richard Lacounte Georgia.  Kid is a ball hawk at safety. He'd be more the underneath safety however as his top end speed isn't great

I imagine I'll take someone to replace Anderson with our last pick and prob sign some random depth lb

No way you keep perriman if Sam is your QB. The guy pretty much thinks Sam sucks. Brown would be a no too. JD is not bringing a guy like this into a very young locker room. I think a Corey Davis, Sammy Watkins type guy would be better. I don’t think either guy is resigned

What’s with all the old guys in FA?  Sewell won’t happen for reasons I have previously talked about. Perriman bashed his QB and you think we keep him?  Still have the wonderful duo of GVR and Lewis, huh?

Yup, we will picking top 5 again next year considering it will be almost the same starting team out there.

I love the Sewell pick, but most of the rest of the moves I am either indifferent or not liking. What is Nick Foles' contract status? As a cheap option in the Alex Smith vain, I wouldn't mind him. However, is he a free agent on March 17, or does Chicago first have to sign or trade or draft his replacement? I know Foles was making stupid money, so he can only be a cheap option.

Signed Fioles for 3 mill. Pure backup qb money .  Perriman we got for cheap too. 3 mill also. Didn't want to bring him back but Robinson Golladay, Samuel, Godwin et al were resigned and neve really hit FA.

I assume you mean Reed and brown.  Both are just stop gap hole fillers. This roster is a dumpster fire and I couldn't draft everything.  Reed like I said knows the offense and I'm pretty much over Herndon. So for 1.5 mill why not. Brown we got for one year after none of the wr fa were really available..  Every outside FA I brought in is on a one year prove it deal which means they will try their best and not hold up long term money if they suck. Only long term deal I gave out was Kenyan drake and Marcus maye.  I believe I gave Autry two years as well. Far as guards, can move McGovern or Fant there if you want. With no worries with helping tackles we can keep the inside in three on two mode

As I mentioned earlier Perriman I got for 3 mill so if he doesn't mend the fences we can cut him for nothing really.

Five new starters on offense and five new starters on defense is not basically the same starting team

But they’re not good starters. What good is signing Drake and drafting Williams with the starting OL not changed much. The WR group is bad. TE is still bad (Reed is always injured). So a year that we need to make strides on offense... nothing was really upgraded.

Along with Klein who is not even a FA and Vernon.  If we’re going to target TE, get Smith, Henry, Elliot or Tonyan. At least they can play a full season and we can sign them for a little longer eliminating the need for. TE for a couple of years. So it costs a little more, we have the cap. When was the last time  Reed played a full season?  Never.

I can’t see JD signing Brown not because of age but because he is a damn had case. He has a mental condition and needs help. Does not sound like the type of player JD would sign.

So our iOL will still be the same - crappy. While I love Dickerson pick we still need another top OG. JD wants to make OL a priority, this ain’t it. Granted Sewell is a great prospect but with what we see happening in Balt. having two OT that want LT money a year part is not good cap management. Plus Fant played OK and should play even better in the new scheme. There are bigger needs than OT this year.

Similar to the Brown situation. JD will not want a player who openly disrespects a fellow teammate. He was not good enough to let that slide regardless of cost. I wanted to keep Perriman as a #4 but not now.

It will be the same starting team just with new faces. Production will not improve. I much prefer quality over quantity at this time.  Spend a little more for a good iOL, and other pieces that won’t cost as much like TE and RB (I do like Drake). But you have the same crappy QB, same crappy WR, slightly upgraded iOL. D is a little better. I like Darby but nothing else screams big upgrade. Phillips is a good pick. Klein is not a FA so forget him. A 4th round LB?  I agree we can’t fix it all in one season but JD can begin improving this team with a couple of good FA signings and a couple of value signings. Draft for need as well as BPA. Since we have so many needs outside of OT, iDL and S, we can get the BPA that will fill a need.

Davis may sneak into the first at LB.  I think I stole him in the fourth.  Klein was a FA here so can only go with what is given.   Reed has played the same number of games as Henry the last three years at what will be a fifth of the cost so shrug on that

As far as the tackles go, we don't have to worry about paying either of them for four more years so that's excellent cap management if you ask me    I agree the interior o line isn't great but I expect Dickerson to be an anchor and hope for the best out of guards who are a little less important in this offensive scheme. As you said, JD takes offensive line priority so I did here as well.

On d, I think the pass rush is markedly improved, the lb corps will be improved, at least athletically with Mosley back.  I didn't go crazy at corner with a zone based defense it's up to the front to get pressure and I think Phillips Quinton Autry inside and Vernon as the front four on passing downs can do that

Unfortunately with how this is set up i could only make three offers at a time. My first trio was three guys who ended up resigning.   William Jackson with cincy, will fuller with Hou and Marlon Mack who I thought I could get to Platoon with a rookie.   One of those things where resign takes precedent over FA offer.  Then went after Curtis samuel and Aaron Jones next trio and had Samuel resign too    took a lot of big swings but unfortunately came up empty and by the time third FA stage was around, it was fill holes in time.

I mean 40% of the offensive line is changed so I think it's changed much.  WR group is not really improved but I took swings at fuller and Samuel and had them resign. Just unfortunate luck in how it's set up
