Scoundrel
These numbers once again are why I don’t like these pro days and no combine.
Justone2
No doubt in-game GPS-speed will be used way more this year and i think it should be way more important for the teams themselves. What a guy does in a actual game with pads is way more important than running 40 yards where your starting technique alone have a huge impact on your time.
Scoundrel
What were Parsons measurements?
LinebackerGod
I believe Oweh's and Parson's 40 times. Penn State had a slew of freaks on that defense. Are those numbers a tad high? Yes, but I don't think they're way off of that. Both are 4.4 guys, even if it were at the NFL combine. And I'd argue that Jayson Oweh was somewhat productive as a college player. He didn't generate sacks, but he got pressures and played hard. His technique is not very good, but I'm not worried about sack numbers as long as he generates pressure on the QB. Sacks are a little flukey and require QB's to hold onto the ball too long in most cases. If he's forcing the QB off his spot and making bad decisions, I don't care if he gets the sack or not. Sacks are nice, but not the be-all-end-all in terms of measuring productivity.

So many of these guys are blazing fast on the field, but can't get that sprinter's takeoff right. That shouldn't be the difference in classifying someone as being slow. I think the 40 will always be used, but I hope more teams move towards GPS tracking rather than a 40 yard dash. If I were a GM, I'd still look at the 40 just for a reference, but it wouldn't really change my board. I still love Paris Ford.
Scoundrel
Reported 3 cone times. 6.83 Oweh and 6.89 Parsons
Abe56
Oweh has been reported as a 4.3 guy for awhile https://247sports.com/college/penn-state/Article/Penn-State-football-Jayson-Oweh-Nittany-Lions-40-yard-dash-time-131502068/

The production isn't there at all, but he really is a freak if you can find someone to nurture him along. He literally plays like a freak athlete who was pulled off of the playground and has no idea how to play football

Yep, I think that's really going to be the method of the future. We have already seen it work out well with the niners (Dre Greenlaw). I'm wondering if we will have access to those times moving forward

Seems to be doing well for teams using it.
