40MM/yr. plus a no trade and no tag clause. What’s the point in waiting this long if you’re going to give Dak everything he wants?

Just an incredibly ridiculous contract they gave Dak. Hopefully by the end of it, this will be the last one Jerry Jones ever gives.

Lol, they lost the negotiation, dude. They didn’t anticipate it playing out this way, or obviously they would have signed him a long time ago.

Dak had all the leverage, and Dallas was running out of time.

The big question mark is, 1st year base salary in regards to this reduced Salary Cap that hasn’t been officially announced yet. We are hearing 66 mil signing so that prorates out to 16.5 mil per year. 10-15 mil first year base would be nice to see, if we can keep a Cap charge around 30-35 mil to help give us some Cap relief to sign some defense free agents.

Cap charge going to be around ~$22M in year 1.

The cap is not what many here believe it to be.

22.5 is the number being thrown around if the two void years tacked onto the end are in fact true. If not true, then it's 25.5 year one cap hit. Either way, you're not getting away with much more at qb in the NFL today.

Two additional years tacked on to the end of the deal which void out at a negotiated point in the deal (likely 3-5 days after the start of league year in year 4). Lets the signing bonus spread out to the 5th year and gives the team a restructure if they want it after year one. Likely, the idea is that they're back at the negotiating table after three seasons. Gets done sometime before or during during fourth at the latest. Dak gets to cash back in post tv deal, cowboys spread his hit out to stay rosy on the cap. Actually a fairly sound qb contract. Hits the team well.

Sounds very complicated but seems like they managed to keep the cap hit at 22.5 million this season which is a big win for Dallas.

Ok wow, so it’s actually a 6 year contract with final 2 years voidable by Dak. Gotcha. Good accounting practice by Cowboys front office and good compromise there.

Odd that the reports are $22.2M. If he got $66M, it should be $25.5M.

Signing bonus $66M/4 = $16.5M

Salary $9M

But hey, a lesser cap hit is a good thing.
