quiller
Happy dance time. I had speculated that there would be voided years at the end to make his contract work. Frankly it is a win for Jones getting a "4 year" contract as that is like getting a 5 year contract last season when Dak was wanting 4. This is a real cap friendly deal. Especially when the "big" numbers will hit year 5 and 6. This means right now besides Dak the only players we have cap hits for 2025 are Zeke at 15.4 and Jaylon at 12.35, both of them IMO will be gone by then.. They didn’t anticipate it playing out this way, or obviously they would have signed him a long time ago. Dak had all the leverage, and Dallas was running out of time. That's why at the end of the deal, Jerry Jones should never oversee a contract again. He got hosed big time. And as a Dallas Cowboy fan, you can't be happy with them giving Dak EVERYTHING he wanted. Especially not after how Cooper, Lawrence, Zeke and the Jaylon deals turned out. If it takes you 2 years to come to a deal like this, you shouldn't be negotiating anything ever again. We are hearing 66 mil signing so that prorates out to 16.5 mil per year. 10-15 mil first year base would be nice to see, if we can keep a Cap charge around 30-35 mil to help give us some Cap relief to sign some defense free agents. When was the last time this team signed a good defensive free agent and not bottom of the barrel?

If not true, then it's 25.5 year one cap hit. Either way, you're not getting away with much more at qb in the NFL today. Once Dak voids those last 2 years of the contract, there will be a big hit to the cap.

They should have gotten it done earlier, but they are smart to not escalate that bad decision with more bad decisions.

WizardHawk
LOL. I can’t believe they actually got this damn thing done. Lot of money, but I have never been this satisfied by a contract signing.
resilient part 2
OK first and foremost for me is no matter what you think of his contract, we can at least MOVE FREAKIN ON, without talking about his future contract every other post as in the last 2 years. Wow.. but on that note 2 Posters who were the most vocal on this subject have not yet chimed in. Where is @Matts4313 and his alter Ego @DaBoys?? I want to hear their comments. 👀😃
D82
They made a smart decision. I’m glad Dak’s locked up.

That and I truly believe it is so much easier/better to focus moving forward from both player and the team perspectives. This really was a 2 year dark cloud hanging over everyone. canadaluvsdallas
If $160 million for 4 years is what it took to get @Matts4313 & @DaBoys to never talk about this again for the next 4 years. It's worth it
