Kelvin Harmon says his spirit is at an all time high

He’s obviously feeling confident about where he’s at. He must be close to 100%.

This takes me back to the days of last offseason where Cooley said we should move Harmon to TE. If we did that and Harmon was the back up/move TE/big slot WR that could work out well for us.

The idea here would be that we’d use Harmon as our slot WR. So when we go 3 wide w/ Thomas we bring Harmon in to work the slot. Having those two in the slot might not give us a lot of quickness in the slot, but the size & physicality of Harmon going against a smaller slot CB would be a good match up for us.

I could see Harmon having 50 recs, 600 yds & 3 or 4 TDs working as a move TE/big slot WR

That’d be nice.

There are times when I see things wrong, generally that’s because I’m just skimming and not actually reading it that closely. That would be one of these times.

Just funning with you - Hope you knew that ! 😊

My question is, how do you make a roster work with Kelvin Harmon, Cam Sims, and Antonio Gandy-Golden? Assuming one of those guys isn’t the WR2 (hopefully), that’s 3 reserve WRs who are basically redundant. Physical, big-body, not so fleet afoot. Is that how you want your depth chart to look, with nobody behind the top slot guy?

I think those guys are competing for two spots.

A G G was a big flop last year. He really needs to show or he's the odd man out .

It’s a question I’ve had as well. My thought process is that you’d make Harmon more of a move TE/big slot WR. They’re not going to give up on AGG just yet, they just drafted him and unlike Cam & Harmon, he’s Ron’s guy that he drafted, he inherited Harmon & Cam.

So, if we make Harmon more of a back up TE then and we sign a #2 and draft another WR then I think it works. That’s the only way I think we can keep all 3 though.

WR1: Terry, Cam

WR2: Corey Davis, AGG

Slot: Rookie, S.Sims or Wright

TE: Logan Thomas, Harmon, Moss/rookie/FA

They could put AGG on the practice squad too if he’s clearly behind Cam and Harmon or our other reserved we already have or we sign/draft.

I would say Harmon's upside is Corey Davis.

He is not tall enough to be a TE.  And he wouldn't be a fast small tight end.  Harmon showed something at WR in 2019, we should let him continue growing there.

I would love Harmon to develop into a Corey Davis type but I don’t think he’s that talented. As a WR I think his ceiling is 60 recs, 700 yds and a handful of TDs. Davis almost had a 1,000 yard season this year.

It’s not like Harmon is short, he’s 6’2 Cooley & Reed were 6’3. Harmon blocks better than Reed ever did, Harmon definitely blocks like a TE. I don’t think we should pigeonhole Harmon. I think he can play versatile and be a receiving TE/big slot who we can obviously also move outside how we did with Jordan Reed to create mismatches against LBs & SS’s on the outside.

I was trying to communicate that Corey Davis is his high end upside.

Cooley had 40 pounds on Harmon.  Reed could move in a way Harmon simply can't come close to.  I don't believe either can be compared.

Harmon has one nfl season.  Give him a chance to develop before asking him to change positions.  It would be one thing if he was some kind of mismatch at TE.  But in reality would just be another undersized and not very fast TE.
