Yeah, this is a poor move imo.

Unless Schwartz is retiring, cutting basically your only two solid/good OL ain't it imo. We saw what happened when they were both out.

These guys are done. Next year were returning starting guard LDT from covid doctor duty and quality center austin reiter alongside stud RT prospect Lucas Niang.

We just need to spend our first two picks on offensive line and we're set.

The Chargers need a center.

C Corey Linsley is a FA and highly rated. If coach Campen was still there it would have been a great fit, but Linsley is top notch at setting the OL slides/shifts and would be a real asset for Herbert

More changes on the #Chiefs offensive line: Starting center Austin Reiter will hit the free-agent market and is expected to land elsewhere, source said.

With Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz cut today, Patrick Mahomes' protection is set to look at least 60% different in 2021.

Good. Reiter is trash.

Linsley is my first choice. But I don’t know if we can outbid other teams with more cap space.

One of our beat writers suggested that we cut him to save cap space lmao

I mean if you are already changing 3 spots just bringing a whole new unit including the guy who will be the centerpiece can’t be that much harder......right?

As in Frank Clark???

Yes. It got us a Super Bowl win, but it's a terrible contract.

2021: 25.8mil cap hit - 37.85mil dead cap

2022: 26.3mil cap hit - 12.9mil dead cap

2023: 27.8mil cap hit - 6.45mil dead cap

2024: UFA

2021 is likely the last year of Clark in KC, barring an extension to lower his cap hit. I'm leaning towards a release or hope for a trade to a team with a lot of cap space.

People don't realize, playing OL/DL is the equivalent of a car crash every down. Kudos to guys like Bruce Matthews, Jackie Slater, Anthony Munoz, and recently Andrew Whitworth for being able to play for a long time at a high level.

And in a rougher era. Shout out to Ray Brown.
