Pats Re-signing Cam

...just don't like it. He's not what you want as a starter, and he's not what you want as a mentor for a younger player (not character wise, but because his playstyle is not exactly something you can teach). Hopefully he's just a transitional player. If they pass on a 1st round QB to stick with Cam that would be very infuriating.

Would rather they signed Fitzpatrick. Or brought in someone younger like Minshew. Passing on Dalton for Cam was a mistake last year, and it feels like doubling down to do it again.

Don't understand this at all. Rebuilding roster, Cam knows the system, the coaches and the players. Why would you bring in another vet and reinvest that entire effort when the future is to draft somebody anyway?

It’s a 1 year deal. If they pass on a QB it won’t be because of Cam.

It's just a tough spot to be in.    At 15 they won't get a top 4 guy - and the debate on Mac Jones is pretty lively....and it's even possible he may not last that long.

I get why they did it, they need to have some insurance, and it's only 1 year - it's just this is a year you could probably do better if you're looking for a stopgap.    Fitz/Dalton, etc.   If you're looking for lightning in a bottle, it seems pretty iffy that Cam's the answer.   His throwing regression in the 2H last year really suggests the shoulder is still an issue.   That's concerning to say the least.

It's only a year, so it's not a franchise-killer or anything.    Just doesn't really move the needle either way.

Even if they draft a QB they still need a veteran insurance policy and apparently Stidham ain't it

Absolutely still in play, maybe more so seeing this is a 1 year deal. I still think the Pats are better off getting in players at valuable positions this year.
