ravishingone
Could he? Would he? Matt Gay did have a good year for the Rams.
ravishingone
The Santos contract with the Bears did the Bucs no favors. Succop is the best free agent kicker on the market.

Gruber74
Licht seems to have a fetish for drafting kickers. He drafts them early, so there's a lot of pressure on them. Most kids don't handle that much pressure well. Especially kickers. Kickers are so visible and the results are on display for all to see. They don't have a receiver to make a tough catch on a bad throw. They don't have a linemate to pick up their missed block. They either make it or they don't. And once they get that little "chink" in their mental armor, they lose their confidence. Sometimes they can get it back but mostly they don't. I'll admit to Matt Gay turning it around last year. That's why I would prefer to keep Succop. He's proven. But, like I said, a string of misses and it can all go off the rails. It must suck to be a kicker because you never know when it will happen. The ones that stay good over the long haul are mentally tough SOB's and worth their contracts.
