Bowman signs with the Raiders

The extra leadership and communication he'll bring to the lb corps is invaluable, especially with so many rookies back there. He can't cover, and we need that, but he can still help. Him Mack and irvin are all thumpers. No reason why our run defense shouldn't get better.

I like Bowman. He's a leader and will have a role. Sure tackler and can bring nothing but good to the team.

But make no mistake here..... this is desperate move by a team that failed to address a position in the offseason everyone saw was a major issue.

I think the latter goes without saying, but we need a good tackler against the backs in our division and on our schedule. If this helps us get off the field on 3rd and short/4th and short, I'll take it.

There were and maybe still are those that have defended the front office for not signing anyone substantial this off-season.

Oh I wish we signed Zach Brown, among others because I think competition is always a good thing. That being said, I think that LB play has not sunk this defense and the defense has been pretty good. I still don't like KNJ, but the defense has performed well enough to give him and Pagano the benefit of the doubt, even if they aren't world beaters right now.

Our LB's are very young and no way is this a bad move considering his contract.  I hope he can bring some stability to our LB corp and allow our young players to grow.  Keep in mind Bowman is only 29, which is by no means over the hill.  I understand he has the knees of a 40 year old but I still think he brings tremendous value and leadership.

Desperate times cause desperate actions.  If coaches and management aren't concerned, check their blood pressure.

We're looking at the 5th loss starring us in the face.  Can we beat the Chef's.  Possible but unlikely.  It's hard to be an optimist at the moment.

I think they can stop with "Irvin as a pass rush specialist" stuff and have him cover TEs. Bowman at the LOS will be enough help.

And leave Bowman to cover Hunt and Hill out of the backfield on occasion...sigh. The pain continues. It will only take 1 or 2 plays to destroy that plan. Our best bet is to keep James and Morrow in the game to remain versatile. Bowman should be a short yardage thumper and a mentor in the class room or he will be abused. It's why he wasn't on the field for the Niners on 2nd and 3rd down. Andy Reid is drawing up the plays right now.

Luckily we are playing the Chiefs on a short week.  Reid is absolutely horrible to play against when he has time to game plan.
