I didn't know much about Tomlinson, but like the signing; he'll be miles ahead of any rookie DT and the only one that makes sense is the 3T, Barmore, who I do like.  I truly believe this is a smart decision by the FO and coaches.  Tomlinson will be a great rotational piece but also be a force on short yardage stops.

Jalen Twyman makes a ton of sense as well.  Should be able to be had on day 2 or 3 atleast right now.

FWIW you were clearly separating the two, maybe thats not what you meant to do but its exactly what you did.  You went from talking about DT's which you had no problem specifying as DT's to they have problems drafting DL, implying both positions.  Swing that anyway you want but you clearly went from saying they had problems on both sides of the line and then you start talking about the DT's then go back to specifying DL.

Its hard for 3rd/4th or later round picks to come in and make an impact day 1 especially when you already have not only 2 established ends but 2 great ones.  plus a rotational one in Robison.  If you expect all those 5th, 6th or 7th round DL to come in and make an impact with very limited snaps than you're simply setting yourself up for failure

Also in this response you're talking about DE's then bring Barr into this, why? He's a LB not a DL.  IDK maybe Im being picky or w/e but you're all over the place

Yeah, you're being extremely picky and IDK why.

I said the closest thing to drafting a successful day one DE we had was Barr who could easily play DE in a 3-4. What in the world is so hard to comprehend about that?

Yes saying DL can mean either or but I clearly was pointing out DT's by mentioning only DT names. Are you bored or do you pick at straws for fun this late at night? My god this is why I don't come to these forums. Dudes over analyzing stuff they can't even comprehend in the first place.

Also both sides of the line means, OL and DL. Again, not hard to comprehend if you slow down and actually break down what ppl are saying before you mass respond.

It will be interesting to see what @y*so*bluhas to say about this move.  He can probably give everyone a pretty good rundown on Tomlinson.  Great move by the Vikings to get him.  Giants fans aren't the only ones upset.  We were wanting to get him in Jacksonville too, but Rick beat us to the punch.

Now just draft a guy like Kwity Paye, Gregory Rousseau, or Jaelan Phillips and you could have a beastly defensive line next year!

Dalvin is an excellent run-stopper, a team captain, and the d-lineman I most wanted to keep... even more than Leonard Williams, who I don't think would have had that breakout season without him. It's a significant loss for the Giants. I wanted to see them build on that defense. Instead they let one of its cornerstones walk. At least we have Austin Johnson.

On Minnesota's side, it's a great pickup; eerily similar to the Linval Joseph thing.  They need all the defensive help they can get up here, and Dalvin will bring some leadership and versatility to the mix.

Hi fellas! Care to shed some light on the newest Raider Yannick?

Teams will run at him like crazy but in the right scheme he'll get a lot of pressure and sacks. He's great at forcing fumbles too.

Very solid player but not elite or even top 10 for overall edge rushers.

It only took 10 years of convincing but we finally got Tomlinson to leave New York to come to Minnesota!

(Curious if anyone gets the reference here)

Are you talking about LaDainian leaving the Jets to be Peterson’s backup?

I'm really excited about having 2 DTs that are tough to handle next year. I've got zero issue in having DTs who specialise in stopping the run.

Lets get our defense into 2nd/3rd and longs and let Zimmer cook up some pressure with blitzes

Dalvin Tomlinson played around 60% of defensive snaps on the Gmen last year.

Why couldn't we give big money to a player/position seeing +80% of snaps

The Giants had a a busy D tackle rotation with Leonard Williams + Dextor Lawrence too. Tomlinson won't have any trouble getting on the field with the Vikings

No one saying Tomlinson is a bad player. I look at plenty of gmen games since they show that in my area a ton. In our 4-3, when both DT/NT are not gonna get to the QB much, as their game is more predictable on swallowing up inside runs, does that mean that it would be a benefit for teams to attempt to pass more frequently on early downs (as we won't have pressure from inside), or on 3rd and +6 and no real offensive run threat do both come off the field a fair amount in this situations.

I mean ... i'd like our goalline D

Solid signing. Reminds me a lot of the Linval signing when we acquired him. Nobody was too thrilled either but he had all the tools we needed. Ironically from NY as well. This really gives us the ability to open the draft up a bit and instantly takes some pressure off our LB's and CB's.

Also the news of potentially bringing back Harris is encouraging. I like him, and he has a good chemistry with Harrison already. The less we go backwards in comradery this offseason the better.

Draft looking like OL, DE, CB, TE, LB,WR in order of importance at this point.

I agree it is a lot like that, and Linval became a multi time Pro Bowler with the Vikings, he was not that with the Giants.  Would be great if they can bring back Harris but will be difficult to do I would guess.  Still Harrison Smith obviously would rather have Harris by his side than a rookie who has to be taught everything like the corners did last year.

Getting Tomlinson opens some things up in the draft no question, can focus big time on the OL and maybe wait on drafting a DT till later in the draft.

Getting Nick Vigil was solid as well, I assume that means Eric Wilson is gone which is too bad though.  At least gives the unit a veteran who was pretty decent on Cinci over the years but was not as good on the Chargers last year.
