I definitely think Miami was ready to back up the brinks truck.

I don't know why...but then again, I don't know why teams insist on paying running backs either. I mean, I get it for some of the guys...and this deal will be highly strucutre dependent on whether or not it's worth it, but I'm happy they get paid.

Good thing they drafted AJ Dillon at pick 62 last year.

I mean he looked really good last season and Williams is gone. Jones/Dillon may be  the best combo in the league next year. They also ran a fair number of plays with 2 backs on the field towards the end of the season.

@Trentwannabe saying Dillon can’t catch passes shows he didn’t watch GB last season.  He didn’t tear it up since he was o it with covid, but made the best of his limited past catching opportunities and showed he can do it.

I'm not a fan of paying RBs either, but depending on their skillset I think they can be worth it. Aaron Jones is one of those types. I also think they're that desperate for it in Miami to help take some pressure off Tua.

Henry I didn't mind either because of how special he is, but I am interested to see how the next couple years go.

Depends on the structure.  Have to imagine year 4 is absurdly high cap hit and almost certainly won't play that year for Green Bay.

Yep. I think if it's something like 13M SB + 2m 2021 salary + 5 million 2022 salary, thats probably okay. You're basically looking at 2 years, 10 million each and that's probably how you want to go with running backs. I don't expect him to fall off a cliff in the next two years

The Packers' offense did pretty damn well without spending anything significant on a WR.  People are thinking of Aaron Jones as the traditional RB, when he's probably closer to Alvin Kamara in terms of skillset and usage.

That's the point. The draft was horrendous up top. Makes you think how close they were to a title if they drafted the right players.

I'd have to guess it's at the very least structured very similar to Dalvin Cook's deal.  And the Packers usually like to put in workout bonuses, so figure 500k per year in workout bonuses.  So you're essentially spreading out $33M in terms of base salary and roster bonuses over the course of the 4 seasons.  The last extension the Packers gave was Kenny Clark who is getting roughly a third of his cap hits in the final 3 seasons of his deal this year.  So..you're probably taking a 4M-5M cap hit year 1, maybe a bit higher.  But probably not much more than that.

Oh yeah you pass on WR's in a loaded draft because of Devin Funchess?

No.  They passed on the WRs because there were better values available (i.e. Jordan Love) and the WR board was decimated when it came for their second pick.  IF Jordan Love ends up being a successful pick, NOBODY will complain about the Packers not taking a WR.

LOL. Maybe you didn't see the Packers game. You're right, I missed his 2 catches during the regular season.

Cam Newton had more receiving yards last year than A.J. Dillon. And that's if you include the postseason, too.

I won't say Dillon can't catch passes, because I'm not familiar enough with his performance in college to really say, but to act like last year proved he could is incredibly naive.
