but we still need to draft a tackle this year.

We only have 3 on the roster. Wylie (but he's listed as OG and sucks at OT anyway). So we've got Rankin, Remmers and Niang (untested rookie). How sure are you about any of these 3 ??

I say we need to Draft 3 OT's . Gotta have backup for 2 starters. And if injury??

So if we usually keep 9 OL on the roster and you have us with 6 OT, that gives us zero depth in the interior.

Typically you go with the 5 starters, a backup OT, backup OG, backup OC, and then BPA. I'm all for drafting a LT, even if they need to sit a year. But as it stands, we may be looking at Rankin as our opening day LT.

I have no idea where to place him.     He's closer to being shown the door, than to counting a roster spot for him though.

I looked at the Colts current roster. They've got 14 OLinemen; 6OG's and 8OT's. Are you talking about "game day roster"??

The 53 man roster. We definitely need more OL for camp and competition. But drafting 3 players for 1 or 2 spots max is a waste when we have other needs.

I think he’s just talking from a 53 man roster standpoint.    I would bet a lot of those 8 OT’s have 0 draft capital, or on deals where if they don’t make the roster there’s no dead cap.

Really only 3 OT’s are making the roster, Probably another 4th that can split time at T or Guard.     It’ll be hard to draft 3 T’s and fit them on the 53 man roster,  unless you plan on going with just rookies at that position.

I don’t know a more pressing need than OL. Not just in bodies in general, but in protecting our most important asset as well.

It definitely still needs addressed.   But WR and Edge definitely are pretty high up there

I’m talking like right now, WR/TE/EDGE at least we have a year to prepare.

OL became a really serious issue officially when we cut the tackles.(obviously the FO knew, probably for a while and were planning ahead). We’ve got no LT still atm, or a legit Center/RT.

We have no one opposite Clark,  unless you think Danna/Taco are anything more than role players.   Edge was arguably just as bad, if not worse than the OL last year.

I agree OL still needs addressed,  but 3 OT’s in the draft was the topic and that’s way overkill,  especially when it’s not like we don’t have other needs.   Hill/Hardman are what we have at WR right now.   Pringle should be back, but even that is not a scary group

I see it like this, one needs 4 positions replaced within the next year and protects the most important position on the team. The other is two positions(already one position filled this year) and doesn’t protect the most important position on the team.

Mahomes can win us a game with a bad pass rush, he can’t with a horribly depleted OL. Especially the tackle position where we’ve got nobody but unproven talent or free agent bottom barrel.

WR I agree but we’ve at least got an All-Pro there, and a HOF TE to catch passes too. We need a 3rd option for now, and those can be found later on.

I’m predicting a trade up for a tackle in the draft, and a free agent tackle signing with the room we’ve got to use still.

hoping for Trent Williams, but not putting all eggs into that basket.

I've been thinking about this lately as well. I can see Veach getting aggressive for one of the premier LTs coming out
