Bowser has also been the more efficient pass rusher his entire career, has he not? He plays almost zero snaps every game, but in those snaps he's almost always made an impact.

When everyone around him is more of a threat he has the least attention on him though. He’s not a guy who can beat a blocker and get to the QB.

Not quite. A lot of metrics had him smack dab in the middle of our pass rushers on a pressure-per-snap basis.

Same can be said about pretty much every one of our EDGE guys since Zardarius Smith left though.

IDK, it's not that the position doesn't matter but it just seems so striking to me that out of everyone it's basically been old man McPhee who has been our best EDGE player the past 2 years whenever he's been healthy, even when we paid through the roof to franchise Judon and/or trade for flashy names like Ngakoue. It's not because he's the most talented of the group, he just seems to fit the role Wink asks of his EDGE guys better than higher priced/big name guys.

Still though even in a rotation you need guys whose main asset is rushing the passer and I think that's where the focus will be in terms of filling that out. Could just be that they're shoehorning the 1st/2nd round pick for a pass rush specialist but there's definitely a need for another guy who can be a + role player in the rotation unless we're relying on Jaylon Ferguson to follow a career/developmental path similar to Zardarius Smith which seems like it would be a mistake to bet our pass rush on.

Neither is Judon, unless that blocker is a TE.

That's more than Bowser has shown thus far in his career. Bowser is more like a bigger Chuck Clark, though he hasn't shown he can handle that volume of play time.

Again, I don't dislike this signing but Bowser hasn't shown much to be a three down player or a true edge. I just hope this doesn't cancel out a pass rushing/run stuffing pickup like a Kyle Van Noy because that's still a hole.

It really isn't, when you compare their efficiencies. Nobody is arguing Bowser is putting up volume stats, but his usage in this defense for his entire career has been a huge mystery to me (and others) because when he DOES get snaps, he produces at insane rates.

And again, this isn’t true.

Pass rushing efficiency per snap doesn’t back this up lol.

It's easy to have nice efficiency stats when your job is to run in a straight line at the QB twice a game in a pass only situation, while the rest of the superior players battle blockers and the run game for 60 minutes.

Judon was an absolute dawg for years and I haven't see that with what Bowser has shown on the field.

And I think we might be ****ed if we don’t get Haason Reddick. Unless we roll the dice on an old dude like Kerrigan or Houston and it works out. But this isn’t looking promising.

We're barely into FA and a month and a half away from the draft but it's already not looking promising? Lol, come on.

This is an awesome deal. Looks like us stalling the growth of Bowser by giving him so few reps to develop on did actually pay off in the end, as we're able to get him back on a value extension. We kept those stat totals down baby 😂.

Great Player. Obviously elite in coverage, now able to make plays against the run, and he's retained a strong pressure % in each of his seasons with actual opportunity. The key point is- he's still ascending too. Excited to see him as a true starter now.

Wolfe or Carlos Dunlap in the building and we're laughing. I liked the Bowser pick when we drafted him and hope he puts on, but I don't feel totally set yet at that position.

Then we draft a weapon and reinforcements at o line and safety and have fun this season.
