Beathard is definitely better than Luton, but he's looked largely bad despite playing in a super QB friendly system and couldn't even beat out Nick Mullens for the backup gig in SF. No interest in him as anything other than 3rd QB.

I mean...realistically, how well the backup QB does at winning games, is probably one of the very least important qualities for this particular team, at this particular point in time. We need a guy who is a great teammate, expert clipboard holder, film room ace, extra coach on the sidelines, cheerleader, veteran with experience and thoroughly content with his station in life as a benchwarming backup. If they can run a solid scout team role, that'd be nice too, but probably not really necessary. The ability to actually go onto the field and win a bunch of games is...hopefully what Trevor is here for. And if he's not out there, doing that...trying to lose less badly in other games or whatever, is a pretty small concern to me at this point in time, when it comes to a backup QB. Eventually, once Trevor is more established in the league, getting a more competent on field backup as an insurance policy while the team is hopefully contending, will become more important. But for right now...whatevs.
