Congrats!

Jerry called, he just named you the GM of the Dallas Cowboys and your first task --> Building the Big Board. The scouts have submitted the reports, now it is up to you to build it.

[You are free to build the board as you see fit: Evaluate character; deduce scheme fit; weight need; determine positional value; etc.]

1st Round Big Board:

  1. T. Lawrence, Clemson, QB
  2. P. Sewell, Oregon, OL
  3. K. Pitts, Florida, TE
  4. J. Chase, LSU, WR
  5. J. Waddle, Alabama, WR
  6. R. Slater, Northwestern, OL
  7. J. Fields, Ohio State, QB
  8. D. Smith, Alabama, WR
  9. P. Surtain, Alabama, CB
  10. Z. Wilson, BYU, QB

Parsons?

I’m surprised. I just don’t get it with him. What am I missing?

I’m just more impressed with the size I guess, and skeptical of hybrid players early in the first

For Dallas I might prefer JOK but I haven’t really been voting based off our team’s needs

I’m not even wondering vs JOK. Just in general, as a top-12 guy.

He obviously plays a different position, but Parsons reminds me a bit of the LB version of Taylor Mays from back in the day. Too much looks like Tarzan plays like Jane to his game for me. Add in the character concerns that are bubbling, and I’m happy to let someone else try to make me look foolish.

To each their own. I generally don't put much stock into alleged character concerns this time of year, unless a guy's been suspended or the allegations are very serious, and will happily vote based mostly off upside. Seems to me that teams have gotten better returns on these hyper athletic LBs in or just outside the Top 10 than LB/S hybrid types (I know you weren't asking me to compare him to JOK, but he and Lance are the only other vote recipients).

To me, the character concerns are just the cherry on top of the bad evaluation sundae. There's at least another half dozen guys on the list I'd take before gambling on Parson's upside.

I understand the disagreement. And I know quite a few NFL teams are going to disagree with me. But Parsons isn't for me.
