Ravens sign WR Sammy Watkins 1 yr $6M ($5M guaranteed)

Is he willing to catch balls in the middle of the field? Seems like he tried to play away from contact, at least earlier in his career and Lamar does best with the middle of the field throws.

Could be dynamic. Could be anemic. Low risk signing. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Depends on which Sammy shows up in all honesty.   Half the time his injured,  1/4 of the team he will ball out in all facets,  the other 1/4 you won’t even notice he’s on the field.   It will be interesting to see how going to a team without another big name WR though,  some of his comments from previous years pointed towards him wanting to be the top man.

I did not realize that Sammy was on the Eric Moulds train.

Moulds' ypc dropped 8 years in a row.

  • 15.3
  • 14.1
  • 13.5
  • 12.9
  • 12.2
  • 11.9

Watkins is going on year 6

  • 17.5
  • 15.4
  • 15.2
  • 13.0
  • 12.9
  • 11.4
  • ???

That seems to happen a lot, gotta look at the catch percentage too. He was 55% his first 4 years and 65% the past 3 years. Obviously his role has changed and he is less of a deep threat now but catches a higher percentage of targets because they are less aggressive throws.

Solid signing for the Ravens, but they should still get another one early in the draft.   Cant depend on him and Id be shocked if he stays a Raven beyond 2021.

I feel like Watkins will bounce around on a series of 1 year deals and retire by 30.
