Panthers got a hell of a deal with this. I bet there's incentives for higher picks

That remains to be seen. You can easily make the case that he's been the worst QB in the NFL the last three years, but he's also had a terrible supporting cast (though so has Minshew, who has somehow been able to look better). I like the chance Carolina is taking here, but I also like the return for the Jets.

Darnold was the #3 pick in the draft 2 years ago, still has some talent, and they're drafting over him while selling low. I get what you mean, but no way Jets fans are happy.

Better than what Chicago got for the #2 overall pick in the draft 3 years ago

some of the NFL experts said it was very unlikely that the Panthers were going to draft a QB other than Lawrence and maybe Wilson

I am curious if the 2022 picks have any performance base contingencies to it. If he is on the roster, or if he has to play a certain % this year in order for the Jets to get that 2nd rd next year. That is a win win for both sides. If it is automatic and no contingencies then I think the Jets won this trade. They werent going to pay him outside of this year and they landed a higher pick in 2022 then they would have ever received in 2023 for comp picks.

As a Saints fan, I absolutely love this trade. Should hopefully mean if a guy like Mac Jones makes it to the Panthers at pick #8, they won't be picking him. Maybe even allowing the Saints to make a play for a top QB with a trade up if they fall past Carolina. This also means Darnold is going to be their QB, which is also a win.
