everlong
Which picture epitomizes the game to you? Tittle bleeding, Namath's finger, etc.?

Small Town Values
Personally, I don't think one picture can do football justice. But, if I had to choose.... Give me anything with Jim Brown. He's Mr Football imo... Then perhaps Lombardi.

Here is a good story on the photo: It was a Sunday in September, 1964, and Steelers’ John Baker had just delivered a brutal hit to the Giants quarterback, Y. A. Tittle. Tittle had been the NFL’s Most Valuable Player the year before and had taken his team to the championship game in ‘61, ‘62 and ‘63. (The Giants lost all three). At 38, he was an old football player. The hit that left him bloody and dazed, made it clear that the end was near.

TheKillerNacho
Can you imagine the ****storm if this happened today? It was pretty controversial back in 1982... now it would almost certainly cause the Patriots to lose two firsts.
bzane
To me, it was this great old sentimental photograph of Jamarcus Russell in full-bling mode, fur coat resplendent, Rite-Aid aftershave trickling down his face, walking bravely away from the game after his fabled 3-year career with the Raiders had come to an end; one last, longing glance back at the historic tundra of Oakland-Alameda County Stadium, in the glow of a final autumn sunset; Farewell, Football! Welcome, cruisin' wid mah homies, spending what remained of the guaranteed $32 million, pleasurin' with the women; a Pro's Pro says good-bye!
