What is a Super Bowl, that if a player had won, they are in the HOF?

I think the better "what if" with Harrison is "what if" Cowher had trusted him to start sooner?      He showed he had talent long before 2007.   I wonder how he wouldve faired starting next to Joey Porter in 2005 and 2006.

I was watching the greatest games of all time show and it was on the browns vs steelers 2002 WC game and it showed a young James Harrison in the locker room. I was shocked to see him be on that team. James spent nearly half of his steeler career on the bench/special teams. James being paired up with Joey porter around 05 is a good "steelers what if"

Devin Hester absolutely should be in the Hall of Fame.  He is the best returner in history, and that opening kickoff return is one of the most memorable Super Bowl plays ever, IMO.  Everyone knew it was possible.  The Colts knew they had to key in on stopping him, and he did it anyway.  It was one of those plays where you can tell your grandchildren "I saw that play happen!"

Hester will make the Hall of Fame. I don't know how it is even debated. The league will make an exceptional exception for him. I saw Ray Guy's career. This is every bit as obvious as that one.

its an interesting question but at the same time for some players a superbowl win wouldve changed career trajectories.

Lets take McNabb. I think he definitely gets in the Hall. A Superbowl Win probably means TO and McNabb get along for a few more years and Eagles dont waste time signing guys like Kevin Curtis to be the #1 receiver

McNabb played long enough on good teams to put up HoVG stats. He even carried the Eagles in 2000 and 2001. The Super Bowl would make a difference.

He is defined by that game and the soiling and puking he did in it. Change that and he's heading towards the Hall.

As for Beast Mode, I think he is a lock. He may get held up by politics but his regular season stats were close enough and he was a monster in the playoffs.

There are lots of guys like Eric Allen who should already be in. They will get in. The Super Bowl would have made it happen sooner.

Kenny Anderson would be in if the team had won SB 16.  Even more likely than Boomer if he had won SB 23

If Ken Anderson gets a ring, he vaults up in the conversation for "Best QB of the 70s" (we all know it's Staubach, but Anderson seems to be the "yeah but" guy in the conversation even though  he's really #2, 3 at worst).

Boomer, I used to regard him as on the bubble but I think his career lacks that consistent stretch and he's in the top tier in the Hall of Very Good

Matt Ryan is, statistically, already a HoF QB. So mentioning him doesn't get any "bleeding edge hot take points"

Sure he has good statistics, but for me Ryan has always been a very good QB but i don't think in his 10-15 years in the league there have been 3 years where he was considered easy a top 3 QB.  I don't see how you can put a guy that is basically never considered top 3 at his position during his career in the HOF unless you do something like Eli did (winning 2 sb's versus the best qb, best hc and an unbeaten team).

Yep. We don't see pure return specialists get in, but Hester was really one of a kind (particularly for his time). With his overall body of work, a Superbowl (further) cements him as the best to ever do it. I think that would be HoF worthy.

Punters get in, but return specialists can be just as impactful. Problem is, it's so incredibly rare someone carves out a long term career as one.

Doesnt he also have the best return statistics? I do think he was considered best at returns for a long time, so yeah i can see him at least being under consideration if they win a SB where he also opens the score with a return.

It's a little disappointing that neither are in the HoF.

Take away the GSOT ring and Warner probably doesn't get in. His career was weird though, so maybe he does.

As for the win-and-in guys....McNair probably. Julius Peppers probably has an easier time if Carolina beat New England.

Based on total impact, if Devin Hester and Chicago had won, he might get some consideration.

Mushin Muhammed? He could be chalked up twice lol.

Muhammad no. Even though he had that monster year in 2004, a lot of his stats are compiling-type seasons. I know he didn't always have the best guy throwing the ball to him, but fair or not his numbers would hold him back. Rod Smith has two rings, better numbers, and he's going to be rough for him to get in.

I don't think so. In recent years the HOF has been a little more relaxed with the "shooting star" effect via the inclusion of people like Jimmy Johnson, Kurt Warner, and Terrell Davis. However even with that ring, and his accomplishments as a TV broadcaster, it might be an uphill battle.

Jimmy Johnson built a dynasty from scratch, that’s a little different from rich Gannon lol
