It’s gonna be for basically no money, and the likelihood he contributes something to the team is far higher than some random nobody UDFA who’ll come in 11th on the depth chart and who doesn’t have world class speed. Goodwin might make the squad and he might be cut before training camp, but there’s absolutely nothing to lose by adding him in April. We got 10/87/1 combined last year from our current WR4/5 Wims and Ridley. That’s not exactly a high bar for Goodwin to exceed to represent some kind of upgrade. This add isn’t changing draft plans or anything like that - it’s nothing more than a floor raising move with some limited upside.

That's way better than any WR on this team not named Allen Robinson has ever had in any given season. But again you're free to think he "sucks"
soulman
Wow.....what an intriguing offseason when we have to stoop to debating the wisdom of signing a #3 or #4 WR for a vet minimum. So much excitement I can barely stand it. Whatever will Pace surprise us with next???? For the record I agree with every single post who states that Goodwin is actually an upgrade to our #4 and #5 WRs and quite possibly an upgrade over #3 Anthony Miller as well. Pace has been shopping Miller so he could be gone during the draft or just after. Goodwin is as good as any late round draftee or UFDA so he's takes up one more spot we don't necessarily have to draft for. Makes sense to me. But again you're free to think he "sucks" Well it's good to know that he last played a full season 4 years ago and he had his 1 outlier of a season where he almost got to 1,000 yards. Can't wait to watch him make a huge impact in 2021 then! @topwop1- at this point I'm just messing around with you. Reasonably I don't think any of us expect Goodwin to have a big impact because the Bears offense sucks. Rinse repeat. It sucks every year because they draft poorly and they sign crap in free agency (+ they allocate wayyy too many resources to the defense). Like @soulman said- who cares either way? They're a below average organization that, in the grand scheme of things, is somewhat irrelevant. They are so far away from being a contender again it's unreal, so whether it was Goodwin or Golladay, they'll still underachieve every year- with an occasional overachieving year sprinkled in- and we'll hate our lives every fall. Tell us how you really feel man I get why people feel like this after so many years watching this team fail In your case maybe a break from this team would be good for your mental health?

I just love how in the spring no matter who the Bears sign fans get super optimistic& by November we can't wait to watch that guy get released in January. I'm tired of being optimistic. The Bears mostly suck and I'm not complimenting them for these goofy, irrelevant moves. I used to see the good in everything they did and now I just expect the worse (especially for a guy with 30 catches in the last 3 calendar years). If there is an optimistic Bears fan on this site please point them out.
