2021 WFT Forum Draft Game - WINNER ANNOUNCED!!!

Ok, time to start this back up!

Its time for... <drumroll please>

THE 2021 WASHINGTON FORUM DRAFT COMPETITION!!

You guys should be familiar with the contest, but I will go over the rules just in case.

At each pick in the first round, you will select a:

  • Team
  • Position
  • Player

For that pick.

SOME ADMINISTRATIVE STUFF

  1. I am ONLY going by the position listed at NFL.COM for that player. I don't care if you think that OT from that FCS school is going to play Guard in the NFL. If he's listed as OT on NFL.COM, then if you list him as a Guard, you will only get credit for the player and not the position. Again...this is important. Because in the past, this was the difference between someone winning and someone coming in 2nd in the competition. I'm not going to try to do judgement calls on if you're right about his projection. Similarly, if he's listed as OLB and you think he will be moved inside to ILB, don't list him as ILB or LB if NFL.COM does not have him listed as that position. I hope I've been clear. Go here to see what position the player is https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/allPositions?college=allColleges&page=1&status=ALL&year=2021
  2. Only one entry per person
  3. You can change your entry as many times as you'd like. However, you MAY NOT enter or change your entry after the draft has started. I will lock this whole thing once it starts. But in the off chance that I don't get to it right then, it means any entry or change to an entry... AFTER 8pm ET on Thursday April 29, 2021 EST ... will be disqualified. I'm serious about this rule as there have been some disqualifications in the past for this. Don't do it!
  4. All questions will be answered in a special FAQ post.
  5. Moderator has final call on deciding any unforeseen issue.

SCORING

The scoring works as follows:

Basic

  • Correct Team = 2 points
  • Correct Position = 3 points
  • Correct Player = 5 points

So if you had WFT at #19 and you picked Redskins, QB Trey Lance and it was indeed Lance, you would get a total of 10 points (x any modifiers - which at pick 19 is "x4" - see below)

If you identified the Redskins making the 19th pick and had them selecting LB Micah Parsons and they selected another LB instead, you would only get 5 points (before modifiers)

But here is where the scoring gets interesting.

MODIFIERS

It is sometimes easier to pick the first 5 picks in the first round than figure out who is going to trade down in (or trade back up into) the round.

So we weight the picks with a multiplier. The multiplier is as follows:

  • Picks 1-5  =  x1
  • Picks 6-10 = x2
  • Picks 11-15 = x3
  • Picks 16-24 = x4
  • Picks 25-32+ = x5

So if you correctly guess all three variables (team, position, player) at pick 5  it would get you only 10 points (10x1).

But getting it right at pick 32 nets you 50 points (10x5).

WFT PICK (Special Scoring)

Regardless of where the WFT picks, we will still score it.

But this pick is scored differently. We score it regardless of where it is.

So if you have the Redskins picking at #19 and they trade down to #24 we will score it and add to your total.

So let's say you have at #24

  • WFT
  • WR
  • Kadarius Toney

And they do, then you get 10pts x the modifier of x2 for 20 points.

But lets say the Redskins trade down to #32.

Well, unless the #32 pick is a WR or Toney, you will get ZERO points at that pick at #32.

But...

If at #32, they pick Toney, then you get credit for WR and Toney (so 8 points). 8pts x5 = 40 pts

But if at #32, the Redskins take WR Nico Collins, you will only get 3 points (for WR). This will also be available for modifiers as well just in case you had the Bucs picking a WR at #32. So it would be 3pts x 5 for 15 points. This total would then be available for a bonus if you correctly pick where they end up taking their first pick (see below)

WFT PICK BONUS

Ok, so there should be something extra for knowing what our favorite team does, right? What if we know they will stand pat at #19? What if the Redskins trade down and you correctly call it? Well, then you're in luck!!

If you correctly pick where they end up taking their first pick (even if they stay put at #13 or even if its the 2nd round), then your results for that draft pick are at an additional 20 point modifier in added to any other modifiers applied above.

So if you have the Redskins trading down to pick #24 and you get all 3 variables right the scoring is as follow

  1. Team/Position/Player = 10
  2. Modifier = x4
  3. Redskins Pick Bonus = 20 points

So you'd get 60 points for that correct pick!!

NOTE--> If the WFT trades out of the 1st round completely and don't pick until the 2nd round we will still score that pick and add it to your total. It just will delay the results of the competition.

TIEBREAKERS

We've had to do tiebreakers in the past. The tiebreakers work as follows (in this order):

  1. The entry that has the most completely correct picks (all three variables correct) wins.
  2. The entry that got the most points from the WFT pick (wherever the pick was made)
  3. Pick a number from 1-20. Closest wins.

OKAY...these are the callouts for people to get on here and get their picks in!!!

FAQ

Gonna restate this here:

I am ONLY going by the position listed at NFL.COM for that player. I don't care if you think that OT from that FCS school is going to play Guard in the NFL. If he's listed as OT on NFL.COM, then if you list him as a Guard, you will only get credit for the player and not the position. Again...this is important. Because in the past this was the difference between someone winning and someone coming in 2nd in the competition. And one year people put "Roquan Smith LB" instead of "ILB"

I'm not going to try to do judgement calls on if you're right about a player's projection to his NFL position. Similarly, if he's listed as OLB and you think he will be moved inside to ILB, don't list him as ILB or LB if NFL.COM does not have him listed as that position. I hope I've been clear.

GO HERE TO SEE WHAT POSITION THEY ARE!!

GO HERE TO CHECK THEIR POSITION!

TL:DR --> ONLY USE THE POSITION LISTED AT NFL.COM (LINK ABOVE) FOR THE PLAYER OR MISS OUT ON POINTS!!!

DO NOT LIST THAT LB as "EDGE" UNLESS NFL.COM HAS HIM LISTED AS EDGE!!!

I SWEAR, I POST THIS EVERY YEAR AND SOMEONE STILL GETS IT WRONG.

EVERY.

SINGLE.

YEAR!

2021 DRAFT GAME RESULTS!!

Okay, this was a weird year and a weird draft. We had 16 competitors this year which makes it one of the biggest fields ever. And, to make sure I didn't tabulate things incorrectly, I had @Woz audit the results.

So without further gilding the lily, here goes.

I'll list 4th place through Last place in this list here with the points (note that a "T" means that there was a tiebreaker used to determine order):

4) @Dutch DC Football Fan - 366

5) @taylor made - 353

6) @Skinsin2013- 351

7) @Daboyle - 348

8 )  @bigdog44 - 345

9 ) @e16bball - 340

10) @MKnight82 - 332

11) @turtle28 - 322 [T]

12) @Ghostnote - 322 [T]

13) @JoshstraDaymus - 305 [T]

14) @daskins - 305 [T]

15) @ripsean21 - 251

16) @aceinthehouse - 239

Third place goes to?

 @Slappy Mc  - 375

Second place goes to?

@MikeT14 - 401

And first place goes to?

@Thaiphoon - 444

About time I actually won this darned thing.
