He can't 'expect' the Front Office to go with any of his recommendations and shouldn't make a fuss if they don't. On the other hand, as I said, I also don't think it is unreasonable for Rodgers (or any other player) to expect that the Front Office would at least give an ear to some of his recommendations and consider them. If Rodgers tried but Gutekunst refused to even give him an ear, then I can understand why Rodgers wouldn't want to come back. Like I said, it's the extremes that are the problem to me. But none of us knows what the case actually was/is. For example, did Rodgers actually speak to Gutekunst privately about keeping Kumerow, or did he merely tweet about it and expect Gutekunst to read it in time and comply? None of us knows. I think he thinks he's done a lot for Green Bay and deserves to stay past 2021. If you are going to trade me, trade me now. I think the personnel decision stuff is BS, the fire the GM or Murphy stuff is BS. He thinks he deserves to stay past 2021 and finish out his contract. You can argue for whatever side you'd like, but it really comes down to has he done enough to finish out his contract or is the Love transition including Rodgers future cap hit relief too far along to turn back now. Meaning, if he turns in his retirement papers when could he rescind them? I also think the Packers could go after some of his bonus money as well as his roster bonus. Don't know how much to put into this retirement report, but Rodgers agent David Dunn played the "retirement game" with Carson Palmer in Cincinnati, and got him out of there. Stay tuned.
