I’m just being really generous and trying to not upset fans. For example, these people really think Arnette has 4.4 speed lol. Hand Time (Mayock) will always be 0.10 faster. 4.56 at the combine and clearrrr 4.5 guy on tape. Jacobs is a solid back but his long-speed is a major issue. It makes teams not play him honestly. They are not scared of him breaking one in any way, so they don’t have to hold their gaps, they can just shoot, which is exactly what they did in 2020 after they saw his 2019 tape. Yup that 4.6 is really more like 4.7. Even makes his shakes less significant cause as a defender if I know you can’t out run me I’ll give you a 2 yard cushion give up 2 yards vs 20+ yards everyday

The best RB of all time Emmett Smith is a clone copy of Jacobs and that worked out fine. Arian Foster ran a 4.7 and lit it up for years. Same with Le'veon Bell prior to his holdout/injury. Watching Jacobs in open field on tape is downright brutal. Foster is an interesting exception, but as I've said many times, one example does not mean it's the norm. I hate when fans do this. "Well here's one example, see, no big deal!". How many % of RB's become a Top 10 RB with 4.6 speed (and Jacobs probably doesn't even have 4.6 speed...)? I'd be willing to bet under 1%. At least under 2%. Regardless, it still doesn't change my earlier statement. Putting all the blame on run-blocking is laughable. Just downright laughable, embarrassing, and complete homerism because Jacobs is a fan-favorite. You know what teams do after rookie years? They adjust. Literally adjust. There was a full year of tape on Jacobs running like a 4.7 in open-field. Therefore, teams no longer play him honestly. They shoot the gaps, instead of stand in their gaps. They do not respect Jacobs long-speed in any way and are not scared of him breaking one for 40 yards. I would still put 55-60% on the Run Blocking. But at least 40-45% of the blame also goes on Jacobs here. This is going to be Carr all over again. "It's the OL". Next year "It's Gruden". Year after that, "It's Tom Cable", year after that "It's the pass game". After 5 years people finally give Jacobs some blame. Same stuff with Carr. "It's Downing". "It's the OL". "It's the WR's". "It's Gruden". "It's zero consistency". "It's the OL again". Seven years later: "Wow maybe it was just Carr?" No s***.

Y'all are going off a timed speed #. He has great burst. He doesn't hit 70 yard home runs, but if we got him to the 2nd level, he'd be hitting a lot more 20/30 yard runs. I can't wait to revisit this thread during the year.

I can't wait to revisit this thread during the year. He's solid at breaking tackles, but another inflated stat because he has more defenders shooting gaps than any other RB. As for revisiting the thread, I wouldn't be surprised if Jacobs gets to a 4.4 ypc with better run blocking, however, I'd be shocked if he ever eclipsed 5 ypc and became a Top 5 Elite back. He's not even a Top 10 back right now, and if you made a thread in General, I think you would see his consensus is probably just outside the Top 10. Heck, you had posters claiming Koonce is normal size because of his listed weight... Koonce is a twig who needs to put on serious mass. "But the mock drafts!!!!", uhhh the mock drafts were all the Raiders lmao. Eagles don't pick RBs in the 1st. A guy I think is super similar to Jacobs is Zach Moss. I think Jacobs will be slightly better than Moss throughout their careers, but they are very similar players. One went in the 1st Round, one went in the 3rd. That has nothing to do with the Josh Pick. By that logic, Stefon Diggs was a 5th round pick so any receiver taken in the 1st is a reach. You just wrote an entire post showing why jacobs wasnt worth a first round pick. You blame are our oline for 60 % of the rushing faults. Carr is not a dog, and cannot elevate players or throw into a tight window. Do you think we had just unreal WRs who are always wide open? or just Waller is a god and got us there himself? (he may be 😆) Lots of doom and gloom, but for how much hate some of our offensive players get we were still top 10 in points.
