The thread title popped back to the top and I had another moment of disbelief that the team actually pulled this off.

We got two players in FFMD who went in the top 22 of the real life draft... And I STILL like our IRL haul better!

They need to play him primarily as an Apex defender, preferably a WLB/overhang.

For sure.

I just hope they bring him along slowly.  Just like the article referenced with Simmons, it’s easy to want to get overly creative and put him everywhere and in the process prevent him from getting comfortable anywhere.

I think he’s the ability to play all over the field, multiple positions, etc., just not year 1. Let him grow into that role with the hopes he’s that guy by year 3/4.

No doubt. For all I care, he can just play when we run Nickel and Dime packages, and keep him out of the “base” 3 LB grouping (we should be in nickel and dime 75% of the time anyway).

Or when we ply a team like Baltimore, have him as your weak side Edge overhang with RB and Lamar responsibility.

Yep.

Nickel and dime should get him plenty of reps and limit what he has to learn.

I just don’t want another Cam Erving situation where they throw everything at him and he’s useless everywhere.

We are all excited for JOK, but the reality is, he’s playing an extremely difficult position with a brutal learning curve. He’s a guy I hope can be utilized situationally and really come on strong towards the end of the year. IMO he’s the long term replacement for Harrison, who I expect to get the early nod as the hybrid S/LB with Johnson and Delpit as the true safeties.

Hill likely has the slot locked up, and Ward/Newsome/Greedy is almost definitely the Dime package. Dime LB and Big Nickel are up for grabs, as is WLB.
