Players that opted out were punished in some ways. Guys that were thought to be slam draft picks were not. Cade Johnson was said to be like at worst an 3rd round pick by a lot of experts. Demetric Felton didn't go to the 6th round behind a player like Jacob Harris from UCF. No disrespect to Harris, but I thought Felton was at least an 4th. What I saw was teams really valuing their interviews and who they met with. Did we all think Fitzpatrick was even on Titans radar? Naw, I honestly didn't. I looked at him in passing because I look at all the WRs. lol But looking at his work out numbers, his production he deserved to be a mid round pick. 3/4th round guy. In a run first offense like the Cardinals (as I have read at least) he put up close to 1,000 yards on less than 50 catches. If he went to say Clemson, I think he would have been an 2nd at least, putting up 1,000 yard seasons. He isn't a steal. He was picked right where I think he should have been picked. Robinson has picked some good WRs outside of Taywan Taylor and he had his moments until he got the drops. I've also got very good info from a legit source regarding Dez that the offense he was in was regarded by some as a "glorified high school offense" and that the coaches there didnt do him any favors. that staff didnt recruit dez. they recruited tutu atwell and therefore they pushed him more.. watching their tape, you see so many scripted plays for him that fluffed his production.. Im telling yall... . the dude is a stud. his dad is an awesome receivers coach. dez is about as pro ready as any WR in this draft. on and off the field. as long as he stays healthy, i legit believe he can have an aj brown type impact. he's ready to go. Daniel
I will say it also seems that the Titans prioritized players that were already doing the things they want them to do in the pros in college. And that makes sense, given the limited amount of face to face time they could spend with the players individually, and in a lot of cases, the lack of tape. True with Farley, they want to play more press man. True with Radunz, as he's coming from a similar blocking scheme. Molden is a slot that also plays some safety, Rice is a LB that's more of a run stopper, etc. They talked about Dez's blocking, and downfield blocking was the thing Corey Davis was best at, so it doesn't surprise me that they regarded Dez so highly. Plus rice can cover he’s my sleeper pick I think he’s going to shine, & Molden reminds me of a Logan Ryan with better hips. Caleb Farley when I watch him;I see flashes of 3 guys, but it’s hard for me to pin point because it’s not that much film on him. I see flashes of Sherman, far as playmaking ability, & ball skills -the technique. Movement & fluidity I see some Charles Woodson & some Jimmy smith. I really think if the back holds up & he refine his technique the kid is going to be Deion Sanders special.
