As the Raiders make a decision regarding the future of receiver Antonio Brown, there’s a chance he ultimately will receive not a penny of the new contract he signed with the team in March.

The $1 million signing bonus contained in the deal actually took the form of a pair of guaranteed $500,000 workout bonuses for 2019 and 2020. The 2019 payment nevertheless hinged upon Brown participating in at least 85 percent of the 2019 offseason program. Per a league source, NFLPA records reveal that he did not earn the $500,000, which means that he failed to participate in at least 85 percent of the offseason program. Thus, to date, Brown has gotten no payment from the Raiders under the contract.

And he may ultimately get none. Brown’s remaining guarantees of $29.625 million (2019 salary, 2020 workout bonus, 2020 salary) can be wiped out if he’s suspended. Actually, the language of the contract allows the guarantees to be voided even without a suspension; the behavior for which he was fined $53,950 already puts him in default.

Brown is such a headcase. He's going to crazy himself out of the league.

is he on the Cardinals now?

Not only could he not make backup here, he's not even backup there either.  He's on their PS as the 3rd QB behind Murray and Brett Hundley.  What an embarrassment to be behind Hundley...and speaking of Hundley, who was it again that claimed DeShone Kizer was going to be a better backup QB than Hundley?  ¬¬

I forget which former player said so on Twitter yesterday, but he said it was clear that Antonio really has no interest in playing football anymore.  He might be right...but even so, it's probably not the best way to go about it.  ;)

Wasn't it Ryan Leaf?

Commissioner Roger Goodell won’t be answering questions under oath, after all.

After a Louisiana trial court judge ordered Goodell and three game officials to testify in the lawsuit filed over the outcome of the NFC Championship game, the NFL took the matter to the Louisiana Supreme Court — and the Lousiana Supreme Court gave the NFL the ultimate win.

The Louisiana Supreme Court threw the case out on Friday, ending the litigation.

“We find plaintiffs’ purchase of a ticket merely granted them the right of entry and a seat at the game,” the Louisiana Supreme Court explains in its four-page ruling. “[W]e find public policy considerations weigh in favor of restricting the rights of spectators to bring actions based on the conduct of officials of professional sporting leagues. . . . While we are certainly cognizant of the passion of sports fans, and particularly those who are fans of the New Orleans Saints, the courts are not the proper forum to litigate such disputes.”
