Exactly I think it’s also important to understand that Bradley may have certain traits that he looks for in certain positions. DT will be interesting to keep an eye on as to what he looks for. What he does with Ferrell will be very intriguing tbh.

Just to add, Panthers run a Cover 3 defense and they got a lot of production out of Jeremy Chinn 6’3 221lbs who lined up everywhere for them. Deablo could be used similarly tbh.

Looking at our draft and who we have picked up then ‘big Nickel’ looks to be a staple of our defense. That’s why we have picked up the likes of Joseph, Gillespie and Deablo to ensure we have enough depth to play that scheme.

Still think Robertson is a bad fit for our defense now, hope I’m wrong as that will have been a wasted pick but that’s what happens when you change DC.

That is a good point, cautiously optimistic 🙂

His excuse is he's a "plug and play player" ...

If you don't care about value, you will not win a championship. If Leatherwood turns out a solid player cool, however, they still didn't maximize their value. Could of picked someone like Farley at 17, or a number of other players, and selected Leatherwood with a trade up in the 2nd. Would he have been there at 48? Probably not. Would he have been there at 40-43? More than likely. Although, I can't guarantee.

They are the only team in the NFL that could care less about value, and they have admitted it several times.

The 1st round was filled with questionable picks.

Koonce and Deablo could end up starting in a couple of years. They won't this year though. I know Koonce isn't a big guy but that LEO spot doesn't require a big body type. Look up Ngakoue, Chris Clemons or Melvin Ingram and you'll see they aren't much different. The plan they have for Deablo was so predictable pre draft. Bradley's history with turning those kind of big box S into LBs was discussed on this forum. In this class, Deablo, H.Nasirildeen and Sherwood made a ton of sense for that plan (JOK too but he was already listed as a LB despite playing a similar hybrid role).

Quote

Deablo has exceptional size and length. He also has a developing skill set that could make him a match for Cover 3 defenses at the Robber spot or as a hybrid player who's able to handle coverage duties and play near the line of scrimmage. While he has the strength and athletic ability to cover tight ends, he will need to improve his route recognition to make more plays on the football. Deablo has the demeanor to make a living in the box as a bigger body who can slow the run and be used as a matchup defender against teams running heavy 12 personnel. He has the potential to become a starter in the future.

Jerry is the best.

This is a bad take. So bad I had to tweet this response:

Except Mayock got the job by almost literally being an armchair GM. It would be like if Neil Patrick Harris became an actual doctor for his role on ER. Talent evaluation ain't exactly rocket science.

What about the fans? Fans complain, and hey have a right to. They could probably draft better than Mayock by reading any online draft board.

They can complain but they act like there's no doubt their opinion is a fact. That's the ridiculous part. It usually leads to polarization amongst the fanbase, over exaggeration to defend a position and poor discussion in the end.

I mean, that's what fans do. Jerry is being unrealistic if his "voice of reason" has an effect. And, his point is still dumb. Mayock is not exactly doing rocket science here. And his track record in the first round is not exactly reassuring.

It won't have any effect. This is what people do. Nothing to do with Mayock though, it'd be the same with anybody else or any other subject. Anyway, not going to go any further on that.

It’s all fun and games until all 32 teams pass on Tevin Jenkins JOK Ojulari & Moehrig. Then no one knows “player value” after that
