Empire Lies
To me, the 53 shakes out as follows: OFFENSE (24): QB (2) 53: Baker Mayfield / Case Keenum Practice Squad: Kyle Lauletta QB Comment: Lauletta likely doesn't make it to the PS. RB (4) 53: Nick Chubb / Kareem Hunt / D’Ernest Johnson / Demetric Felton Practice Squad: None RB Comment: D'Ernest Johnson is just too good of a player to cut and he is a positive special teams contributor and locker room value add. He's far superior of a runner than Felton who is more WR than RB. D'Ernest would not make it to the practice squad. In the end, the Browns have to keep the best talent. FB (0) 53: None Practice Squad: Johnny Stanton FB Comment: I love Andy Janovich but the Browns haven't used the FB as was expected on Stefanski's hire. Johnny Stanton has H-Back and TE Flexibility, plays special teams, has a cheap contract, and is likely to make it through to the practice squad allowing for elevation to game day roster as needed. FB minimal usage means that Janovich is a luxury when trying to figure out a tight 53 roster. LT (2) 53: Jedrick Wills / James Hudson Practice Squad: Greg Senat as LT/RT swing. He played really well in preseason thus far. LG (2) 53: Joel Bitonio / Michael Dunn Practice Squad: Drew Forbes and/or Colby Gossett and/or Blake Hance OC (2) 53: JC Tretter / Nick Harris Practice Squad: n/a RG (1) 53: Wyatt Teller Practice Squad: Blake Hance and/or Drew Forbes and/or Colby Gossett. RT (2) 53: Jack Conklin / Chris Hubbard Practice Squad: Greg Senat as LT/RT swing. He played really well in preseason thus far. OL Comments: James Hudson struggled mightily thus far, but he's a rookie and one just has to hope he improves. Most likely, he is destined to be a solid RT in the league as his technique falls off sharply at LT. 1 or 2 (but not 3) of Drew Forbes, Colby Gossett, and Blake Hance is likely to make it through waivers. If so, I'd expect however many of them that are available to be signed back onto the teams practice squad. The hope is that at least 1 would make so we could have a decent quality RG or OG swing player beyond Michael Dunn and Chris Hubbard who will make the 53 outright. It's a shame that Nick Harris doesn't really have the Guard flexibility. I could see him as a surprise cut if they believe that Blake Hance is as good at Center but adds Guard flex. TE (3) 53: Austin Hooper / David Njoku / Harrison Bryant Practice Squad: Kyle Murkway TE Comments: I could see Andrew Berry looking to cuts from around the league to fill in the practice squad or roster at TE. WR-Boundary Speed (3) 53: Odell Beckham Jr. / Khadarel Hodge / Anthony Schwartz Practice Squad: Davion Davis Slot-WR (1) 53: Jarvis Landry / [Demetric Felton] / [Anthony Schwartz] Practice Squad: n/a WR-Boundary Possession (2) 53: Donovan Peoples-Jones / Rashard Higgins Practice Squad: Ja’Marcus Bradley WR Comments: You just can’t cut Khadarel Hodge. He’s a starting caliber WR3 with high WR2 upside. He plays special teams, is smart, and has a tremendous work ethic. Plus, it’s possible OBJ and/or Jarvis aren’t with the Browns next year due to salary cap reasons. In that case, a guy like Khadarel would be great support in the room. Davion Davis flashed a ton and will be a great practice squad add after he returns from suspension. - DEFENSE (26): RDE (2) 53: Myles Garrett / Porter Gustin Practice Squad: Cameron Malveaux 3-Tech DT (3) 53: Malik Jackson / Sheldon Day / Jordan Elliot Practice Squad: Marvin Wilson NT (3) 53: Andrew Billings / Malik McDowell / Tommy Togiai Practice Squad: n/a LDE (2) 53: Jadaveon Clowney / Takk Mckinley / (Malik McDowell) Practice Squad: Joe Jackson DLine Comments: Sheldon Day is a lock because he’s dominated all offseason. You can’t cut an ascending Malik McDowell if he’s changed his life around because he’s shown DT1 ability in flashes in preseason and practice and gets tremendous. Push. Tommy Togiai has special ability and longterm upside. The Browns have to see it through with him and I don’t think he’d likely make it through to the PS. Jordan Elliot had all-word college tape but his play last year was awful as it was as if he forgot how to get off blocks entirely. He’s been terrible in the preseason as well except for 1 flash assignment play. I wonder if the coaching staff still believes in him. If so, you have to see if he can get back to letting his talents manifest into year 3. With McDowells DE versatility though it seems crazy, I think the first 53 has all 6 DTs on it for talent reasons and upside reasons. Andrew Billings has been awful in preseason, and I could see him as the surprising cut no one saw coming with Malik Jackson sliding into NT and Sheldon Day starting with Malik Jackson being the first one off the bench while Tommy Togiai comes up the curve. SLB (2) 53: Mack Wilson / Sione Takitaki Practice Squad: n/a MLB (1) 53: Anthony Walker Jr. Practice Squad: Elijah Lee I.R.: Jacob Phillips WLB (2) 53: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah / Tony Fields II Practice Squad: Willie Harvey Jr. LB Comments: This is the position group that Andrew Berry has to work his magic on the most in terms of being able to predict who goes through waivers or not. Jacob Phillips can’t sit out 14 weeks and take up a roster spot so he has to go to I.R. Elijah Lee is valued by the coaching staff and has special teams versatility. I also think he has a great chance to make it to the Practice Squad so it’s likely they chance it. Tony Fields II was an elite defender and special player in college and you can’t assume he’ll make it to the practice squad so you have to keep him on the 53 as he has longterm future starter ability. Malcolm Smith is the tough decision because the room needs him now not only for his veteran leadership but also for his playmaking ability on the field. I think a healthy Willie Harvey Jr. offers what Malcolm Smith does except Willie has more special teams ability and will easily make it to the practice squad. Ultimately, it’s likely Malcolm Smith is brought back if he doesn’t get picked up elsewhere but that’s to be determined. LCB (2) 53: Denzel Ward / AJ Green Practice Squad: Brian Allen NB (2) 53: Troy Hill / MJ Stewart Jr. / (Grant Delpit) Practice Squad: n/a RCB (2) 53: Greg Newsome II / Greedy Williams Practice Squad: Emmanual Rugamba CBs Comment: Andrew Berry has to see if he can upgrade on AJ Green and MJ Stewart Jr when looking around the league after the 53 cut down. I also don’t believe in Brian Allen or Emmanual Rugamba’s abilities, but the 53 roster really needs AJ Green to end up being a solid player and for the starters to remain healthy FS (3) 53: John Johnson III / Sheldrick Redwine / Richard LeCounte Practice Squad: n/a SS (2) 53: Ronnie Harrison / Grant Delpit Practice Squad: Jovante Moffat / Elijah Benton (maybe on Benton) Safeties Comment: Sheldrick Redwine is too versatile as a Nickel playmaker or FS or SS to cut. He’s also respected in the locker room and is very young with starter ability. Richard LeCounte is an instinctual player and special leader who’s just now getting his legs back up under him. He needs time to thrive and could be an impact starter in the future. He can’t be cut and hope he makes it to the practice squad. Joante Moffat is a quality special teams and backup safety who can make it to the PS. Elijah Benton will likely be on the outside looking in on the PS given the PS max of 16 players although he could be a guy that makes his way to the PS during the season due to roster injuries at whatever position. GTFOH He is the best cheer leader for the browns online otherwise, Mack sucks. Linebackers on our roster that are better than mack, walker, jok, taki, superbowl mvp malcolm smith, Elijah lee, I'd bet that the rookie is too. I'd keep Lee over Mack as a linebacker and ster. The best thing Mack has done for the browns is that awkward tackle vs mahomes that knocked him out the game. His best moment is a **** up. Name something else he has done. Ya cant he sucks He cant tackle. He is a linebacker. If you cant tackle dont be a linebacker. Edited August 29, 2021 by Kiwibrown

Have you not read any of the reports about his play during camp or watched him in the preseason so far? also why are you name droppings Superbowl MVP when Smith plays no where near that level Anymore. Like he should make the roster off of past performances for other teams that will Be 8seasons ago.
Empire Lies
16 hours ago, Empire Lies said: 3-Tech DT (3) 53: Malik Jackson / Sheldon Day / Jordan Elliot Practice Squad: Marvin Wilson NT (3) 53: Andrew Billings / Malik McDowell / Tommy Togiai Practice Squad: n/a I'm now having a change of mind about Andrew Billings making the Browns 53 roster. The biggest reason why he might still make the roster is because of his $3,350,000 dead cap hit. It's been a bit shocking as to how poorly he's been in the preseason at holding the point of attack. He also offers no real pass rush. The problem is it's likely difficult for the Coaching staff and Front Office to believe that Malik McDowell or Tommy Togiai are reliable week to week options at NT. Togiai has tremendous strength and holds up well in college but he's a rookie and that's a tough task. The more likely option would be to move Malik Jackson to NT for a majority of snaps and hope the combination of Sheldon Day and Jordan Elliot can generate pass rush from the 3-tech spot. Malcolm Smith, Andrew Billings, Andy Janovich, and KhaDarel Hodge are all likely vying for the same roster spot.
