You look at that roster and that is a pretty solid roster. Not may holes in there.

Now that we are post MC, I think this looks pretty solid. I had Nijman in there as the last OL, but wasn't counting on the praise being put on Braden so he could take that spot. Also, I didn't have Taylor (or any 6th WR) or Ento, but given the report yesterday that they were the top gunners in ST work, that would give them a leg up as well.

Only thing I'd probably change here is 12 DBs seems a little high vs. only 4 EDGE. I think Ramsey has a solid shot to stick because he's a leaner EDGE suitable for this defense and has always been a decent ST player. I'd probably put him in as EDGE 5 and take out Black or Ento (GB keeps the better ST player -- the other goes to PS).

Those currently are plausible options.

If Rodgers is out, and Love looks good enough, would anyone be shocked if we went:  Love - Benkert at QB? From the highlight video of Benkert as a Falcon in the 2019 preseason, I like what I saw, and he is still just 25.

If Rodgers is out I'd rather see Love, Bortles and try to slip Benkert onto PS.

The fact that the Packers signed a fifth QB Dolegala after only a couple of weeks of OTA's is probably not a good sign for Benkert. If Rodgers shows up first day of camp, it's probably Benkert's last day as a Packer.

If Rodgers is out, I think it pretty much guarantees Bortles is on the 53. If you're trying to compete this year, you need that security blanket behind Love when the regular season hits.

If Rodgers is out Bortles WILL be on the 53.

This shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp: IF Rodgers is back then Love goes back to being QB2 and might see occasional in-game snaps. IF Rodgers is not back, then we roll with Love and Bortles comes into the game if Love is playing horribly. BSPN has a filler article about MLF talking about "having a plan." Shouldn't the plan be pretty damn obvious? It's really a non-story and in the meantime, Jordan Love gets the TC he didn't get last year working with the 1's.

The only ?'s in this scenario are: 1. Can Jordan Love take advantage of an incredible opportunity. 2. Will Rodgers actually be back? 3. Will Jordan Love not stink it up causing Bortles to come into the game? and the obvious: 4. If Rodgers is back, when do we/do we ever see Jordan Love? - questions we've debated ad nauseum at this point.

Post TC Week 2/Family Night Roster Status and Predictions:

QB (2): Locks: Rodgers, Love -- pretty easy one here. Hope they can stash Benkert on the PS though, I like the guy.

RB (3): Locks: Jones, Dillon; Bubble: Hill, Williams, Taylor - I'm predicting Hill grabs the No. 3 spot, Taylor ends up on PS and Williams goes elsewhere

WR (6-7): Locks: Adams, MVS, Lazard, Cobb, Rodgers; Good Bet: Funchess; Bubble: Winfree, Taylor, EQ -- Traditionally the Packers go 5, maybe 6 at WR but this year could be an exception because I don't think Gute wants the Cobb addition to affect his overall plan for who he keeps here. That's why a No. 7 WR is in play and Winfree is currently the guy to watch.

TE: (3-4): Locks: Tonyan, Lewis, Deguara; Suspended (won't count on first 53): Sternberger; Bubble: Dafney; Bigger Bubble: Nauta -- I think the Packers likely keep Dafney on the 53 come Week 1 with Sternberger out, at least for a few weeks. Another name to watch: Issac Nauta -- has had an underrated camp including getting snaps with the 1s in the practices I was at.

OL: (8-9): Locks: Jenkins, Runyan, Myers, Patrick, Turner, Kelly, Newman; PUP/IR (won't count on first 53) Bakhtiari; Bubble: Braden, Van Lanen; Bigger Bubble: Hanson, Nijman -- I have 7 locks on the OL with Newman being No. 7 because he's a 4th round draft pick. I think the Packers start the season with 8 or 9 so Braden and Van Lanen could both make it or might be fighting for that last spot. Hanson and Nijman on the outside looking in. My realistic hope for Bakh is that the Packers activate him off PUP (so he doesn't have to sit out 6 games), but then probably IR him, meaning he'll be out the first 3 games at a minimum. That would put him around the 10-month mark for a return in October.

Total Offense: 22-25 players (More moves needed once Sternberger/Bakhtiari come back)

DL: (5) Locks: Clark, Lowry, Keke; Good Bet: Lancaster, Slaton -- Pretty simple here, I don't even see any real bubble players on the roster. Of course, this could change if the Packers dip into the DL market before the season and add a vet.

EDGE (4-5): Locks: Z. Smith, P. Smith, Gary; Bubble: Garvin, Galeai; Bigger Bubble: D. Scott -- Ramsey will go no IR so he's out of the discussion. After the big 3, our depth is pretty poor here so perhaps the Packers only go with 4 EDGE guys and let Garvin/Galeai fight out that last spot or maybe they keep them both. I could see the Packers make a waiver claim for a No. 4-5 EDGE guy as well, but neither Garvin nor Galeai have done much to claim that spot.

ILB (4-5): Locks: Campbell, Barnes; Good Bets: Martin, Summers; Bubble: Burks -- Campbell and Barnes are the starters. The Packers are not (and should not) give up on Martin despite him struggling this camp and right now Summers is probably the top back-up and a good STer. If the Packers go with 5 (they did last year), Burks makes it based on ST ability.

CB: (6-7): Locks: Alexander, King, Sullivan, Stokes; Good Bet: Jackson; Bubble: Jean-Charles, Ento, Hollman, Samuels -- Four locks here and Jackson is a good bet based on him having a decent camp thus far. That leaves probably 1-2 spots left between four guys. Right now, I'd put my money on Jean-Charles (draft pick) and Ento being those guys.

S: (4-5): Locks: Amos, Savage; Good Bets: Black, Scott; Bubble: Redmond; Bigger Bubble: Gaines - Black and Scott are virtually locks given what I've seen in practice (both are running with the 1s in certain packages). Redmond is a good STer and veteran which could keep him around once he returns from injury. A sleeper is Innis Gaines who has been very active at camp thus far and offers some S/CB hybrid ability.

Total Defense: 23-27 players

Total Specialists: 3 players (Crosby, J. Scott and Bradley)

First 53 Prediction

Offense: Total 24 players

QB: Rodgers, Love (2)

RB: Jones, Dillon, Hill (3)

WR: Adams, MVS, Lazard, Cobb, Rodgers, Funchess (6)

TE: Tonyan, Lewis, Deguara, Dafney (4)

OL: Jenkins, Runyan, Myers, Patrick, Turner, Kelly, Newman, Braden, Van Lanen (9)

Defense: Total 26 players

DL: Clark, Lowry, Keke, Lancaster, Slaton (5)

EDGE: Z. Smith, P. Smith, Gary, Garvin (4)

ILB: Campbell, Barnes, Summers, Martin, Burks (5)

CB: Alexander, King, Sullivan, Stokes, Jackson, Jean-Charles, Ento (7)

S: Amos, Savage, Black, Scott, Redmond (5)

Specials:

Crosby, Scott, Bradley (3)

You would think cap savings would be a key factors for guys at the bottom of the roster.

My expectation was that the likes of Burks and Jackson would almost certainly be gone.  Jackson having a good camp complicates this but 2m for a guy at the bottom of the roster they didn't want to play last year is too much unless he is a completely different player. If he has a really good pre-season they might be hoping to pull a trade.  Would still have him as a long shot he is on our roster week 1.

WR I think they go 6 unless there is another guy they are desperate to keep. Having a WR7 never usually works out.  Your numbers per position looks about right to me
